Pregnancy

Sat in EPU... Pregnant after miscarriage

I had a natural mc at 8 weeks 5 weeks ago and had been feeling a bit weird for the last few days... Ended up taking a preg test last night and it came up positive! I've not slept and just keep crying to myself in fear :-(
The hospital told us we needed to wait for a period before trying again but since it had take 2 and a half year to get pregnant and was on clomid we weren't careful.
Now I'm sat in EPU waiting for bloods because it's so soon and we bleed during sex. I just want blood to confirm things are progressing really. Stressed is not the word :-(

Has any one got any positive stories for me?! Xx

Well not me personally but my friend had a mc then got pg quickly after and now has a beautiful 1 year old dd Smile

I had an early mc earlier this year and have not tried actively since as such but am positive it will happen and all will be ok ! After it happened It was a big shock but actually made me realise that it's quite common when people I told then told me their own stories, there is absolutely no reason why this time around everything won't be fine !! Easy to say but please try not to worry !! I hope they put your mind at rest Flowers

I was very open about the fact I had had a mc and nearly everyone I had spoken to had had some experience of it! It definitely helped my mental well being and think it shouldn't be such a taboo thing to discuss. Thanks for the love x

I had MC at 8 weeks. They told us to wait three months before trying again.
At the three month check up I was two months pregnant. Blush
Pregnancy was fine though I did have one or two bleeds and extra scans. DS is 7 now.
Good luck, I have everything crossed for you.

Dd1 is a 15 year old product of a pregnancy straight after a miscarriage. I miscarried at 7 weeks and got a positive test 5 weeks later. Best of luck with everything. Hand here to hold if you need it.

Totally agree with you - the more these things are discussed in the open, the better.
I was in a similar position to you - now putting our rowdy 2 year old to bed.
Try not to stress - it's out of your hands (so hard though, I know)
Fingers crossed for you Flowers

Sorry for your loss Flowers I've had 3 losses. Of the 3, 2 has unsuccessful d&c's which meant I tested positive for a long time (and ended up needing a second procedure twice). Did you have a negative test after your mc?

Yeah tested neg a week after the bleed stopped. The facts say new preg but head is just a wash of crazy thoughts and panic.
Thanks everyone it's helping reading positive stories whilst sat waiting x

I absolutley agree about being more open !! I honestly felt like oh my god what's wrong with me ?! Pregnancy with ds was fine so why has this happened now it must be something I did wrong or wrong with me and I know my friend who it happened to also felt exactly the same

Then when I actually got talking about it I heard so many stories of Yeh that happend to me /my friend / my wife etc before they went on to have the healthy dc that I know of ! of course im sad they went through it to, but it put it into perspective

I know two ladies who got preg on the cycle immediately following a miscarriage. One just had her baby, the other is almost due. Smile

Hiya, I had a mc in September last year. I had 2 periods before trying again but the reasons for that weren't medical. It was because we were in the process of buying a house and I also I needed time to mentally recover. Anyway first weekend we thought a trying again... WHAM! I am now 39 weeks! Really smooth pregnancy so far

Lots of ladies fall pregnant in what is known as the WTF cycle (named because you can't date from LMP and everyone ovulates at different times after an MC). Pregnancy after MC is super scary but I wish you lots of luck.... The chances are that everything will be ok this time xxx

I had a miscarriage end of September 14 at 7 weeks. I fell pregnant immediately after and gave birth to my ds 17 days ago! All was fine and I think it's quite common - don't dret!

Omg... I think my head is going to explode!
Back from the EPU and the last doc we saw was utterly useless! She tried to take more blood when I had already had it taken and the she had to consult the nurse about what to do! She said that basically I could be preg or not and she doesn't know. My hub ask if the hcg levels could go down and then back up (from the mc- lowest tested level was 45 then a week later neg test) or is this defo a new preg. She was like who knows. I was in shock. I asked when would I expect the blood results and she said some time tomorrow morning, asked roughly when to expect and she said hmm any time just go to bed and relax, RELAX! Sleep is not going to be happening tonight I feel....

Thanks for all the love though it's very much appreciated x

I mc on the 1st December and had a positive pregnancy test on Boxing Day, I had hcg levels of only 5 when I mc on the 1st December, therefore the test I took on Boxing Day was a new pregnancy. I am now 36 weeks pregnant from that boxing day test, the weird thing is they actually believe I conceived this pregnancy just before I miscarried the other one, makes no sense at all and the nurse in epu said sometimes strange things happen but everything happens for a reason xx hope you get answers tomorrow x

Firstly there's no need to worry about getting pregnant after miscarriage without a period in between. The reason you are advised to wait is only so that it's easier to be sure that this is a new pregnancy and to date it. you are no more likely to miscarry again if you get pregnant straight away.

As far as the stress of waiting goes, I'm afraid the doctor is right - there is no way to be sure without waiting. They can see if your hormone levels go up, and when it has been long enough that a pregnancy would be visible they can do an ultrasound.

I had a miscarriage last year, had surgical management for it as it hadn't completed after nearly a month, and was pregnant again without a full period in between - I had some spotting that just faded away, but wasn't sure if it was a period or not. I had bleeding during this pregnancy at 6.5 weeks, and was certain I was miscarrying, but I'm currently 39.5 weeks and have been quite sickeningly healthy throughout!

I was pregnant the first cycle after a mc as well. It does happen, it's mostly for dating purposes with early mc. They wont berate you Smile

How are you Frankie?

Really hope everything is OK.

I had a MC at 8 weeks in early December last year and feel pregnant again in early January.

I'm now 31 weeks and so far everything has been fine, although I did have some bleeding at 5-6 weeks so was sent to EPU for scans to check it was OK.

My MW said that it's really common for women to fall pg again that quickly after a MC.

Not great to be honest :-( I've reposted the current situation and I'm finding it very hard to be positive... They scanned (the nurse was very insistent to have this even though I wasn't 100%) found an empty sac and a massive cyst. Got to go back in a week to have another scan and see if there's anything there... Thanks for all the support guys it's been fab x
