Moses basket dilemma?!

I brought a second hand Moses basket, but I decided to replace the old mattress with a new one, problem is I took it out the packaging without realising it was too big for the basket! So now I can't return it... Does anyone have any suggestions?! Would be much appreciated :) I currently have the new one on top of the old one cause the new one isn't as thick as the old one but I don't know whether that will be a problem for baby when he gets here?! Help!!!! :')

Can you take the mattress out of its cover and cut it to size?

Amazon, put in the correct measurements, you can get new for £10-15, bin the other two. Don't worry about it only being a couple of inches thick at most, that's fine.

I know the mattress can come off, it's an airflow foam mattress so can I cut it?? And I'll have to ask to cut it for me if I can do it

I didn't really wanna bin the new one as it cost 20 odd pound so yeah trying to find a solution to make it fit

Stick the wrong size one on eBay, bin the old and find the correct size on there- got one last week for under a tenner!

Hiya there are Facebook groups for selling baby stuff too, usually local ones so you could try to get near to full price on there. Personally I wouldn't mess around trying to make it fit or using 2 as I'd be concerned about safety x

Yeah but I'm still then stuck with the dilemma of not having a mattress if I sell the new one, so I'm just trying to think of solutions to help make it for as my basket is a weird size :)

you can cut it down if it is foam, just trim the edges, but if the mattress will fray it is better not to. My basket is a weird size too, I couldn't get a mattresses to fit so bought a big crib mattress, cut the corners and trimmed the sides and put it back in it's cover. Mine is an airflow one too.

Yeah that's what my mom is gonna do for me cause it's just a foam mattress so she's gonna take it to work with her and cut it down and overlock the seam back up :)
