Highlighting hair during pregnancy (3rd trimester)

I am 37+6 weeks pregnant, and I've not had anything done with my hair since getting bfp (yes, my hair is a mess!)

I used to get blonde (so bleach) highlights done, but decided against it when I was due to get the roots redone during the 1st trimester. I'm now thinking ahead to the birth, and I'm worried (as vain as this sounds!!) that I'm going to look a mess in the photos of me with dd when she's first born, and I'll look back on them in horror.

Would it be really bad to get my hair highlighted at this stage, especially as it's bleach? Or would it be okay?

I think as the chemicals dont touch your scalp its fine. Im having highlights next week too. I will be 25 weeks and also haven't had anything done since my bfp!

Yes it's absolutely fine. I am 38 weeks and getting mine done next week so I don't look frightful in the post-birth pics!

I'm going to get my hair dyed tomorrow (34 weeks). I don't think it's true (anymore) that there's a problem with the chemicals in pregnancy.

Got mine done just before BFP but didn't worry as none of it touched my scalp and I couldn't find any real evidence (and I did a lot of looking) of problems being caused. I'll be getting it done again shortly :-)

My brothers girlfriend is a hairdresser and she assured me that highlights are safe but due to hormone levels etc getting it done when you are either at the start or near the end of your pregnancy you run a small risk of the colour not coming out exactly as you may think it will. It's definitely safe though!

Thanks everyone. I think I need to stop being such a worrier! I just can't help but think if something did happen to DD after I had it done, that I would blame myself. I guess I'm just being silly though!
