Hi all
Anybody fancy sharing their results from 28 week growth scan if you had one ? Had mine today and I'm worrying

HC 283
AC 254
FL 54

The head is measuring miles ahead and way off the chart

What did they say at the scan? If they're not worried then I don't think you should be. I was told my baby is measuring above average but I was 28+6 when I had the scan.

HC 275
AC 241
FL 53

Mine at 27+4 were all 50th - except abdomen, 245. She signed it off as normal but warned might be GD. Test tomorrow, joy.

I agree with PP - if they weren't worried, you shouldn't be. And I say this as someone who googled abdominal circumference and sobbed all weekend - don't be me!!!

I have just had a 33 week growth scan,
FL 69.7
HC345
AC344.
Baby is big but then so were my other three :), midwives not worried!

Just checked - head circumference was 263 but that's nowhere near off the chart on mine; looks like about 60th. So only 20mm in it. The scan can't be all that accurate surely?!

I don't have my scans to hand however I would say try not to worry too much. (Hard I know)

I'm small and always measure small. Had numerous growth scans throughout all three of my pregnancies, my largest FH was 33, bearing in mind two out of three of mine were 2 weeks overdue too.

DD1: growth scans indicated 6lb7oz, weighed 5lb5oz at T+10 by em c/s

DS: growth scans Indictated 'maximum 6lb'er' plus c-section birth booked automatically at T+14, was 7lb8oz at T+13 VBAC

DD2: (my 'newbie') growth scans estimated 6lb7oz (can't remember the margins without digging my paperwork out) and they didn't want to let me go over. Began giving me sweeps from 38 weeks. I went for my final attempted sweep bang on 39 weeks. They didn't think it would do any good, i wasn't favourable but the MW's were doing as the consultant said. Attempted the sweep, couldn't get anywhere. Decided to hook me up to the monitor whilst we waited for the consultant. They couldn't find her heartbeat, only mine. Whipped me off for a scan and discovered it was hers, just really slow. Wouldn't let me off the bed, wheeled me straight to a room, prepped me for theatre and I had a baby within 20 minutes. Luckiest day of my life as it was 2 days before Xmas, nothing was happening and I had to get on. She was 5lb 3oz. I measured 28, 32, 27 in one afternoon so FH's really aren't that accurate either.

As you can see, comparing against other peoples really won't help, the scans aren't all that accurate.

I do hope you don't worry yourself all night :(

Growth scans are approximation and guess work and RARELY reflect the actual size of the baby...pinch of salt ladies :)

This is what my consultant said last week- I've been having growth scans every few weeks since 20 weeks because of MCDK, I'm 35 weeks.

I had a growth scan at 34 weeks; head was measuring big and AC was off the scale! Sonographer did worry me by asking if I'd had my GTT (I had, it was negative for GD) and suggesting I may need it again as baby was measuring so big.

I saw the consultant the day after and he had no issue with the measurements whatsoever! He explained that the line they plot the measurements on is population based and, at nearly 6ft tall, I myself would be on the 'high' end of the scale anyway, so they'd expect baby's measurements to reflect that. He showed me the measurements plotted on my personalised growth chart and they were slap bang in the middle of where they should be.

He said that if I was 5' tall and petite he'd be worried, but I'm a 6' tall brick shitehouse so...I'm just going to have big babies! I'm from a family of big babies too. Try not to worry- you're well looked after. Smile

Thank you ladies . All measurments are top of the scale which is fine but the head isn't even on the range graph as it's over . X

I'm due to have a growth scan next week when I'll be 27+a few days. They're checking for growth so far and placental health and blood flow after two episodes of reduced movement.

Any tips on what to expect would be really helpful..?

Are growth scans routine? I haven't been offered any routine scans past the 20w one? I'm now 28+1 Confused

I have one scheduled at 34w but that's because of LLP

I also had a growth scan at 27+4 because I'd been in a couple of times panicking over reduced movement.

standard scan, they checked for heartbeat etc, then measured head, AC, femur, bipara and amniotic fluid. and estimate the baby's weight. it gave me the heads up that I probably have GD because the AC and fluid are "at the top end of normal"; waiting for blood tests now. they also look at the cord and blood flow.

I still panic a lot about movement, but I will say that when she does move, it's been noticeably stronger this week, even at only 1 week further in. hope this continues and that it's the same for you.

Hi OP-

What did your consultant say about the measurements? I just had a growth scan & have now been referred for GTT bloods as baby was on top centile.

Another scan booked for 32 weeks, so will know more then.

Have you got another scan booked?
