On Monday at 14.5 weeks I had a sudden major bleed. Leading up to it I'd been very uncomfortable with feelings of pressure but no pains like contractions. I was taken in for asessment and scan which showed the bottom of the placenta had come away slightly and was causing the bleeding but baby was well. I had further bleeds in hospital. After a night on antenatal ward for observation it was decided I could have another scan and go home to wait and see what happens, the said it could go either way and there's nothing they can do to influence it. That scan was encouraging as no further placenta problems seen.
I've got a history of recurrent mc, pregnancy induced hypertension, fibroids, group b strep and just found out in not immune to rubella.
I don't think my anxiety can cope.
Does anyone have experience of bleeds like this? Major hand holding needed please Sad

Yes I do, and he is having his first feed of the day as I type.

I had several bleeds until week 20, one so bad my colleagues felt the need to call an ambulance.

I gad a lot of extra scans and I was induced at 38 weeks.

It is scary to bleed during pregnancy, much more common than I realised.

Good luck Brickie.

Thanks wacey I ended up in an ambulance yesterday as it was just gushing out everywhere. Is it likely to happen to me again then?

Yes I had the same. First bleed at 7 weeks off and on until about 18 weeks. My 20 week scan showed the blood had completely gone and DS was born at 38 weeks (he was just early, I wasn't induced).

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you.

Yes, I bled every day for three weeks from 6 and a half weeks onwards. It was eventually diagnosed as a SCH. At first the bleeding was very heavy and crampy and I was sure I was miscarrying. My baby made it though.

Thanks all. Can I ask those that have experienced this how long it took to pass the old brown blood once the fresh blood had finished? I've not had red blood since yesterday but there is so much of the old stuff passing that it's so uncomfortable and has me running to the loo every two minutes. I keep panicking that the sensation is fresh bleeding again.

I had one on my last p[regnancy at 12 weeks. Brown blood on and off for about 3 days. It was measuring 1cm squared, which i was told was small. No issues after and perfect baby born at 39 weeks. They are quite common, please dont panic!

Thanks. I'm still in a state of shock and high alert. Still passing loads of brown blood so there must still be a fair amount in there. Over the last couple of days I've really struggled to cope emotionally but I don't know how to fix that it what would help. I'm not a tearful person by any means but I keep on crying, randomly over anything and it's worrying my children.

I had this too. I bled every day to varying degrees. Some days old blood, some days it poured out. I ended up anaemic and the bleeding didn't stop til 22/23 weeks although thankfully by that time it was clearly the old blood.

The worst thing is knowing it could go either way. I could have coped with either outcome but the further on I got the worse ir was knowing it could still all be over.

All I cab say really is if you start feeling dizzy and lethargic please get down the drs. my anaemia was treated later than it should have been and it made life that much more difficult.

I had this, they seen it on the 12 week scan and explained that it was possible I would start bleeding, it started the next day, had another scan and baby was still ok so was sent home and left to wait it out, I bleed for about 3/4 weeks. I spent many hours researching to try out my mind at ease. My baby is now ten and half months old.

I had one, I started bleeding at 11 weeks then it stopped, started again at 14 weeks and went off and on until 20 weeks. DD was born a bit early at 36 weeks exactly but was otherwise fine.

I had one at about 11 weeks. Just a couple of days after my scan.

Got out of bed, and a mammoth gush of blood went everywhere. Went to A&E because was losing so much blood. They scanned. Found a heartbeat and a massive haematoma. Measure something like 10cm x 10cm x 3cm I think.

Continued to bleed really heavily for a couple of days. Heavier that my heaviest ever period. Then brown blood for a couple of weeks. The haematoma was still there at my 20 week scan but much small.

My son was born perfectly healthy at 39+5.

Hope all goes well. Please don't Google though. Google is not your friend.

Thank you for all the reassurance. I called the hospital yesterday for my swab results etc and since I'm still passing small clots and in pain (mainly sharp cervix pain as old blood is passing through) they are scanning me again today to see what my placenta is up to.

Hi All, I know this is an old thread but it comes up as I frantically google everything. I'm pretty sure this is what I'm experiencing. Was everything all ok in the end?
