Dry Mouth

I have just found out that I am pregnant... Around 5 weeks (2 and a half weeks po), I have the most horrendous dry mouth, I have had it for a few days now. I know its warm but I've never had this before, even in warm weather. I am drinking plenty, probably a pint every 1-2 hours. I just wondered if anyone else had this symptom in the first few weeks of pregnancy?

Yes, SO badly. It was really the only symptom I had for ages and it was the thing that made me suspicious I might be pregnant before I knew for sure.

I'm now nearly 14 weeks and it's eased off a bit, but I still have to carry water with me all the time. I've been told it could be hormones or could be all the new blood we have to manufacture...

I had this until about 18 weeks. Hope you don't have it too long. I tried to avoid salty foods and kept lots of water by my bed as it was worse at night. Hope it goes for you soon, it was horrible x

I've had this since about 6 weeks and now at 28 weeks still suffering, if it's any consolation you do kind of get used to it

I've had that since I found out I'm pregnant I'm now 18 weeks - the worst is I've gone of water so I kind of struggled but still drink plenty of fluids including watermelons.

My skin has gone dry as well. I use normal shower gel but the minute I come of the shower you can feel how dry my skin is( joys of pregnancy)

I've had a dry mouth / v thirsty on and off throughout the pregnancy so far - am now 26 weeks. was bad through first trimester and apple juice was the best for helping me. then was ok for a few weeks, but been back again last few weeks (and worse at night as other PP said). So I can drink one or two glasses of water during the night and when I wake up I have to have a drink before I do anything. v annoying!
hope it eases

I had it for a good while, its so annoying. It's nothing to do with thirst/ water and in the night I found this could actually make it worse. Try experimenting with different liquids - personally I found swishing toothpaste round my mouth helped

I had this for a couple of weeks until it was replaced by all day nausea...

Chewing gum helped me - gets a bit of moisture going on.

Yep, I'm 31 weeks and have dry mouth, blocked nose and dry skin throughout really. The mouth isn't as bad when the nose isn't blocked. And Aveeno is great for the skin :)

Yes. Ugh terrible. 28 weeks now and my mouth is less dry but I have the most awful shit taste in my mouth. Like I've been sucking on a penny dipped in dog shit. Doesn't help with the nausea! !
