8 days overdue, anyone like to whinge and be impatient with me?

The title says it all really! Starting to think I'm going to be pregnant forever and just keep getting bigger and bigger. Have googled early labour symptoms obsessively for the last 3 weeks every time I've felt the slightest twinge but nothing happening yet :( Midwife appointment tomorrow for another sweep and to discuss induction. Last week they told me I would be induced at 12 days over but now I'm in two minds, the impatient part of me would love it to be over by Friday but I've also been trying to do hypnobirthing and would really like to avoid an induction so thinking about asking for a few more days at least until the Monday.

Hello Bearsarah... I'm with you. Only 3 days overdue at the moment though. I've been lucky as I've only just started to get uncomforable. The result is I've not been desperate for the baby to come out (... I'm quite scared about looking after a newborn!).

However, I think it would be a good idea if baby comes soonish, particularly as my hips are starting to give in! And it's just so, so weird waking up each day thinking 'is this the day its gonna start!'

I've been doing the hypnobirthing too! It's great isn't it? I've a midwife appointment tomorrow so will see what they say about sweeps or induction. I'm not sure if this discussion happens this week or next?? I want to avoid induction if possible. Although I've spoken to a few mum's who had a positive experience after induction.

Hi Bear and Mouse,

I am 5 days overdue and going insane, also been researching all the possible things that could mean labour is near, but I feel nothing. My body is giving me nothing. I had midwife today for a sweep, but I have an unfavourable cervix, so she is going to try again for Wednesday. Feeling pretty bummed about it all. It is sooo hot and I am pretty uncomfortable now, feel like Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka.

I am also hoping for a natural birth, as much as possible anyhow, but I feel I can't last like this much longer, I am miserable...so I unfortunately know when offered I will take the nearest date I can to be induced...

COME ON BABIES....what are you both having?? I am having a girl. Smile just would like to see her!

Not Veruca Salt....the one that blows up....that one....what is her name??

bearsarah · 29/06/2015 19:41

Ha yes I know the one you mean, can't remember her name though, I'm definitely feeling like her, think I'll have to be rolled into the hospital! I keep changing my mind about induction, so want to get on with things and meet our little one so Friday is v tempting but I suppose if I've waited this long a few more days won't make a difference. We don't know what were having although got a strong feeling its a boy.
Mouse - Really hoping the hypnobirthing works in labour but if nothing else its very relaxing, I struggle to stay awake listening to the cd. Hope you get good news at your appt tomorrow

I've got a week until my due date and I'm already loosing the will to live so I feel sorry for you ladies being over due. This heat is ridiculous Angry xx

2 days overdue, so def not entitled to feel as fed up as you! Never mind the heat, my 2 year old has become unbearable these last 2 weeks. DH keeps having to separate us from fighting like moody teenagers. I'm normally a pretty patient person but am already at my wits end! Also no signs of labour being imminent - just a big hard head knocking me in the coccyx a few times a day!

bearsarah · 29/06/2015 20:14

Hopefully all the babies will pop out soon! Not looking forward to heatwave tomorrow when I'm so massive! Slack can't imagine having to look after a 2 year old as well. My patience went weeks ago!

yeah bear, if the birth isn't very hypnobirthy in the end, I feel all the relaxation CDs have been super beneficial in the meantime. Although I definitely can't stay awake through them anymore. Hopefully it's going in subconsciously!
Slack - head knocking your coccyx doesn't sound fun at all! Hope you're not in too much pain!
JRWREN - I'm having a girl too!
I'm not, not, not looking forward to this blimin' heat wave!

Mmmmm 34C on a maternity ward and post-partum sweatiness! What a prospect! Hopefully we will be too loved up with the squishy new babies to notice the melty weather

Oh my the heat is already much too hot and we are having more of it, the humidity is already too much to bear. I lie on the bed and try not to move too much to stay cool! Slack, having a 2yr old in this heat being very pregnant must be hellish, I don't know what I would do, definitely want a winter baby next time ;)

What are you trying to get your babies to come? I have done pineapple, spices and walking lots...kinda think it is all twaddle because I think she just grew rather than thought about coming out! I feel very heavy today. Can't wait to have my body back, I would love to be sitting in the garden, carefree with a glass of wine! I have wanted this baby for so long, I feel like it will never happen!

Maybe tonight will be the night for some, sending happy thoughts to you all!

5 days over and can still sleep okay and function in this heat. I'm just bored of waiting, I've done all my jobs and there is only so much housework I would ever want to do!

Tried curry, walks and pineapple, don't have the midwife again until Friday (which would be 9 days late) and no sweep last Friday, she suggested I leave it a week (think she just wanted morning clinic over quickly)!

If one more person txts/calls 'any sign' I might shout at them, (I've done it to pregnant friends before & am very sorry for it now)!

Oh well, il nod off now and dream of being woken by labour pains!

Damn woke up having had a good night sleep, was really hoping for labour pains in the night! Don't think I will ever want to see another pineapple again, tried all the usual things but this baby is far too comfy/lazy! Hope someone had some luck overnight

bear as someone who went overdue with all three pregnancies and who had DC3 a few days ago at 40+12 I would say unless you have a heath concern over you or the baby try to wait until you go into labour naturally. I had induction with my first and it was way more painful and harder to recover from than my two natural births.

Report
bearsarah · 30/06/2015 11:41

Thanks puddymuddles, just been to see midwife and apparently my cervix was very soft and stretchy but still only 2cm dilated and posterior, don't know if this means no chance of it happening before Friday? She said I can just go in and get checked on Friday and see if it's any further along and then make a decision about whether to wait for a few more days, keeping fingers crossed something happens before then!

No luck here, had an awful night though, drank way too much and was peeing every half hour! I have been having a lie in. I have read around 6 books in the last week or so, am on my 7th today. Feeling pretty sluggish, there is a food shop to do, but I can't quite bring myself to do it! I keep hoping every week that this is the last week I have to do it without my baby...I just hope she comes soon. Bear, i know what you mean about pineapple, hate it with a passion now. I walked downhill 2 miles yesterday, nothing....just sat trying to avoid the heat now. I refuse to wear a bra today!

Report
trumpetmouse · 30/06/2015 16:02

Ha,ha.... I have a bra on but no top.... With my big belly hanging out, bouncing on the birthing ball. I know I look delightful! Wink does bouncing help.... or did I make that up?
Had my midwife appointment and had the discussion about induction. the midwife said they would book me in on day 12 overdue. She didn't seem that impressed by my suggestion that I might want to leave it a few days. Hopefully baby will come before I have to make the decision. Eek!

JRWREN 2 miles!you deserve a rest today!

Bear, the cervix stuff sounds good! Surely that is a good sign.

Hope everyone's babies come soon!

Mouse I was bouncing on the ball yesterday with belly hanging out too, hope no one looked through the window that would have been a sight!

So...who's still preggo? Just me? I have my 41 week appointment tomorrow. When I (reluctantly) made it a month ago I was all "oh well, just in case, but you wait and see - I won't need it!". Blush famous last words

40+8 days over today and after having an unsuccessful sweep (non-favourable cervix) yesterday, another booked for tomorrow and induction on Saturday I was loosing hope.

But at 3pm today I started cramping and I'm currently in bath at midnight trying to cope with the build up.

Will call midwife soon, but hope baby will be out of its own accord within 24hours!

40+6 today and had a sweep - reasonably favourable cervix and a rather crampy afternoon since with a bit of mucous plug going....bring it on!! Really hoping this gets things going as I want to avoid induction. Not least because they've booked it for my wedding anniversary! Quel celebration that would be Shock

nosey hope you've got a baby in your arms!

Well after a very crampy Friday night, and lots of bits of plug (urgh!) Saturday was a bit of a disappointment...cramps stopped. Nothing. Nada. Walked loads, bounced on ball. Nothing. On the positive side had a great night's sleep last night and 2yr DD didn't surface until nearly 7am so at least I'll have some energy if I do ever go into labour! How's everyone else doing?

40 weeks 3 days overdue here, been having a show for 2 weeks bloody and gross, I'm 2cm dilated but cervix still a bit thick.

Lots of false labour and false starts lets hope she comes soon. My 2 year old was 40+11 so not holding out much hope

40 plus 9 today and no false labour. Loads of twinges but no real contractions to speak of. slack hope you go into labour after all the good rest! peperoni hope the false labour leads to something soon!
I really didn't feel too grumpy about the late arrival.... but over the last few days I've started to get super fed up! Need some good distractions I think!
