Whooping cough vaccination! Too late?

I'm 36+3 with baby number two.

Completely forgot to book my whooping cough vaccination! My midwife only mentioned/reminded me once. The queue at the surgery was so long I planned to ring for an appointment.

Is it too late to have the vaccination??

I think it's up to 38 weeks so get in there this week x

You can have it up to 38 weeks. I forgot too, then had to go in with DD and tried to book it while I was there. They slotted me in after DD's appointment.

You can have it up to delivery, and afterwards technically!

Ideally best and most effective before 38 weeks so get booked in ASAP.

It takes two weeks to have the full effect from what I remember so thwy recommend it up to 38 weeks. I think I had it at 37.

Nurse told me when I had mine that if you were planning on breastfeeding you could have it at birth although she said 28-32 weeks was the ideal, I was just after x

Thanks for your replies. I am going to ring my surgery first thing in the hope of getting an appointment as my surgery is usually very busy!

I believe they only say before 38 weeks as it gives a full 2 weeks to transfer across to baby. My mw forgot to book my app and I had mine at +39 weeks.

I was told at 28 weeks and totally forgot. I ended up having it Tuesday just gone at 35 weeks. I've still got a lump now they told me up to 38 weeks too.

Hope you can get an appointment.

Just to flag as from a previous thread some women were told and some were not. It's a 4 in 1 vaccine and will also cover polio, diphtheria and tetanus.

And like Scorpio I had some after effects in the injection site so get it in the side you don't sleep on.
