Sciatic Pain- any tips

I've had a teeny bit of sciatic pain ever since I found out I was pregnant. It's not something I generally suffer from. Yesterday it got quite a bit worse, not the kind that shoots right down my leg but enough that it hurts to stand up or do a few everyday things. It's only on my right side.

Anyone got any stretches or exercises that might help?

Hi Flyingsprocket,

No tips am afraid, but just wanted to say i feel your pain. Am 20+2, and my back pain is starting to get worse. Like a sharp pain lower back going towards my left side, it stops me in my tracks. Sometimes i struggle to walk. Thank god it's not every day, but i'll be watching this post to see if anyone does have some tips Smile

See a physio - I was having really bad sacroiliac pain and I didn't want it yo get worse. She gave me some excercise and 'repositioned' my pelvis (uncomfortable but bliss after, not entirely sure what she did.)

That and the excercises have helped enormously. I'm actually quite surprised at the difference - I've gone from limping and needing a sacroiliac belt to being able to potter around mainly fine.

Maybe catching it early helps?

Yep!! I feel your pain! Yoga really helped me, especially something called the 'pigeon pose'-you can YouTube it. Touch wood no more flare ups! Hope yours disappears soon! xx

My pregnancy pilates video said that the leg exercise where you lie on your side, put legs in 90 degree angle like in a chair then lift the top one up and down is meant to be good.
