Babies head engaged at 36 weeks doesn't mean anything does it?
(12 Posts)Hi ladies,
Had my 36 week appointment today and midwife said that head is fully engaged. Does this mean I could potentially have my baby early or is it all just normal and expected?
Midwife said "any day now I hope you have your bags packed" maybe I'm reading too much into that!
Unfortunately it doesn't mean anything. Baby can come anytime but head being engaged isn't a sign.
My first was engaged from 30 ish weeks and he didn't arrive until 40+11
Oh gosh I hope I don't go that far over! I've said from the day I found out that I had a feeling I'd be early. Shouldn't have said that...haha
It doesn't mean anything... but I was CONVINCED i'd go over due as everybody i knew had... ds was engaged early and came at 39+5 which was great actually, but was before I had expected.
DS was engaged from about the same time. He was born 40+10. Sorry! Good luck!
Nope. Doesn't mean anything. I was same, baby came at 40+13.
Thanks everyone x
It is a good idea to have your bags packed though. Just in case.
DD was fully engaged at 31 weeks. She wasn't early. It means nothing. Any day now is also something they say from 36 weeks. They're right. You're a week until full term. Baby is imminent.
Nope means nothing! DD was engaged really early and made no sign of wanting to come out, even after I was induced 5 days over!
Think I got my answer! Thanks
DS2 engaged really early. He was 10 lbs 11oz when he was born 11 days over.
I could hardly walk the last few weeks of pregnancy, the pressure was horrendous. I was numb, bruised, tender, swollen and developed a prolapse before I gave birth!
Once he was out it was a doodle,.
However, when he engaged I had to lie down for a while as it hurt so much. Obviously your DC has better manners than mine. And hopefully a smaller head.
