Does anyone have any recommendations on what you think is the best/most helpful book for expecting first baby?
I've got the pregnancy guide by mumsnet and find it a godsend but can't see they have a book for men?

A friend gave my dh "commando dad" where everything is described like a military task. Quite a lighthearted tone but he liked it.

My DH is reading Pregnancy for Men which seems pretty good (I've read most of it to check what knowledge he's gaining!).

My OH uses an app which is specifically for dads during pregnancy which is nice. It tells him how the baby is progressing and how many days left and little daily tips to help prepare

What's the app called please LorryHen? DH will be a second time dad but he could do with an app. When he had to call triage with our first he told them I was a lot further on than I was. He needs an app!

AbbeyRoadCrossing I think it's called who's your daddy or something strange. I think it was about 2 quid but it's a really nice app with a timeline of events for them

Pregnancy for Men was good. Quite tongue in cheek but still detailed, I learnt a few things too

Not sure about books but he can sign up to whattoexpect.co.uk. They have a guide for dads and send weekly emails telling you what to expect each week and how the baby should be progressing.

Thank you for all your advice, we've read loads of reviews on different books. The one that has come out on top is Be prepared (though the front cover looks like it's from the 50s - which has left me worried if the info provided is up to date). Can anyone confirm if this book is worth getting?

My DH found The Blokes Guide to Pregnancy and The Blokes Guide to Babies very useful- informative, humorous but not patronising.

Definitely commando dad! I've enjoyed reading it myself! It's light hearted but actually pretty detailed

Another vote for 'Blokes Guide to pregnancy' by Jon Smith (who is a local lad to us). Hubby & I both really enjoyed it! Grin
