Anyone else on the final countdown?

I'm 38+2, if the baby hasn't made an appearance by next weekend I'm being induced.

DH is convinced the baby is going to come early and every time I have a tummy cramp he is practically one foot out of the front door with the hospital bag! Grin

I think I'm going to be phenomenally bored over the next two weeks as I am having quite strong pelvic pains so walking and moving about is really quite painful.

Anyone else on the final countdown?

Yep. 38+5 - sweep today and bring induced on Sunday if the sweep doesn't do anything - a bit early because I have GD and consulatant is worried about size (baby currently on course to be 9lb but that's not because of the GD - me and DP are both really really tall).

I'm doubtful the sweep will take - I have had some cramps but nothing resembling a contraction (ftm so I don't really know but my mum friends hollow laugh and say "you'd know if it were") although baby was fully engaged at midwife appointment last week...

The pains moving around etc are horrible - feels like round ligament pain again but at the slightest provocation.

Due date tomorrow :) was at risk of premature labour from 24 weeks and now she has decided she doesn't feel like arriving. Uncomfortable doesn't even describe it. Strong braxton hicks, had a show a couple of weeks ago and any signs I had have disappeared. Hope you pop before induction :)

Show-watch has become a bit obsessive for me - not that hard, given the amount of times I go to the loo every day. Did yours look like the pictures? I am getting a lot of discharge now, some of it mucus-y but not the full "sneeze" so wondering if it's maybe coming away slowly or still intact. Sorry for TMI!!

applecore0317 · 26/05/2015 10:39

Mine was a bit bleugh, was a bloody show like the pictures, following a stretch and sweep that clearly did nothing else... Since then have had some days of a lot sneeze type discharge after going for a walk, but still nothing. Midwife said that discharge increases a lot in the last few weeks.

I'm 38+3, full of Braxton hicks but waiting for it to turn painful??, 4 th baby and hardly sleeping oh and I'm at work today for 3 more hoursConfused

Ooh, I have company! Smile

I haven't had a show yet, nor any increase in discharge. The baby feels so low that I'm starting to wonder if I will actually have to push the baby out or if one big cough or sneeze might do the trick! I wish

Really good that you have made it this far applecore

purplebiro If you don't mind, would you let us know what the sweep is like?

koala I had a sweep a couple of weeks ago. I believe it all depends on how favourable your cervix is as to whether it will be comfortable.

Mine was soft, favourable and 1cm dilated. It wasn't comfortable but have had internals that have been worse, definitely bearable for me, I'd say a little more uncomfortable than a smear if that helps

purplebiro · 26/05/2015 11:20

Koala will do - I am dubious given lack of show so far but that said my mum was in full labour with me two hours after she had one so who knows...

apple thanks for feedback on show - wishful thinking on my part, I suspect :( Know what you mean about being low though - there are times where I do genuinely think if I just keep walking she'll pop out, feels like she gets lower and lower with every step...

Koalafications · 26/05/2015 11:29

Thanks applecore I haven't ever had a smear so can't compare.

Fingers crossed for you purplebiro

Yes, I sometimes think I can actually feel the baby bouncing on my cervix when I'm walking!

Can I join? 38wks and lost my plug this morning, had really strong bh's all weekend on and off and last night I was up every half an hour because my sciatica has been aggravated. Baby is fully engaged and I have ankles like an old rhino. Feel a bit better after losing plug as I figure I'm not in pain for nothing! But really hoping things get going now. Seeing consultant tomorrow who is keen to induce as I've got a number of back problems (pre preg and aggravated by the extra weight) so if I can get started on my own I will be thrilled!

40+2 here! :D Got a bit cocky early in pregnancy telling everyone i had a 'gut feeling' she would be here by 39 weeks hahaha!
No signs....nothing. Also, nothing works to help her out either. Pineapple, bouncing ball, sex, curry, raspberry leaf tea.....I think the second i have greasy hair and very hair legs i will end up going into labour :p

And yes - I am knackered and cba showering, shaving legs etc but every morning think "well, I better, just in case..."

The fat ankles are a joy aren't they, so thankful it isn't winter and I can wear my flip flops...

Joining in :), I'm 37+4 and so ready for this to be over. I also feel like the baby is getting lower and lower with every step, my BH are really uncomfortable but they just taper off - I'm waiting for them to become painful but it just doesn't seem to be happening. Have a stretch and sweep booked for next week, this is my 2nd baby and I didn't have one with the first.

I'm exhausted, my ankles are enormous and just trying to shave my legs makes me want to sleep for a week! I'm guessing I'm going to go over and need an induction.

I'm 38 + 3 and desperate for this baby to come! I'm convinced I will go 12 days over and then be induced :( every one seems to be having sweeps early I thought you couldn't have one til you were 40 weeks? I've got my 38 week check with midwife tomorrow, does she do an internal?
I've had back ache since about week 18 its been my thing I guess! But since 4am Monday ive had it much worse accompanied by constant period pains, not on and off so not contractions, and paracetamol doesn't touch it :/

I've not had any bh or show or anything :(

Sweep was probably more painful than I was expecting but bearable - cervix was still tucked back but 1cm dilated - got the impression from the consultant that she wasn't expecting it to get things moving but we'll see. Think most of the pain/shock of the sweep was having someone up there in a medical way - first time in the pregnancy and until now it's been pretty hard to visualise the pain and disruption of labour so I've not been too worried about it but now I'm aware of where the pain could be it suddenly feels a bit more real. But hey, it's gonna happen whether I worry about it or not!

Oh and they moved my induction to Saturday - something to do with the amount of staff on - I'm not too fussed really - not like I had any plans!! Very odd knowing I will have a baby within the week.

purplebiro · 26/05/2015 17:47

shaw2be mine was because I am GD and they don't let you go beyond 40 weeks and also the baby is measuring big (not cos of the GD though) so they are concerned I would struggle to deliver at 40w. I am being induced at just over 39 weeks so the sweep is just to try and get things going and avoid that if possible :)

I will join too! 38+5 with my second and desperate for baby to come. Baby is measuring above 95th centile but they won't do anything till i reach 40 weeks :( I'm a really tiny woman too so panicking a little after being told baby is huge! Have bh all the time, some painful some not but otherwise nothing is happening. Was 2 weeks over with my first and induced. Booked in for my sweep next week just before i hit 40 weeks. Really hoping it does the job! (Or even better baby comes in the next week on its own!)

Can I join? 37 weeks here, so not quite on the final lap but getting close! Still working, was due to finish next Friday but have bought it forward as beyond exhausted! Not sure if baby has engaged yet. Can't get my head round being full term, baby might be ready but mummy certainly isn't! Might feel differently in a week though...

Most looking forward to baby stuff: seeing my baby - for some reason I'm really fixated on whether she has hair or not - no idea why; seeing little bits of what will become her personality; smelling her; watching DP with her (he's SO excited and SO soppy about the whole thing I think he's going to be a delight to watch).

Most looking forward to me stuff: CAKE! CAKE! CAKE! CHIPS! JUICE! PASTA! (GD, man, I will be grateful when it comes to losing the not-much-weight I've put on but WOW do I miss carbs); having a PROPER wee; being able to climb the stairs without being out of breath; going for a good hardcore run on the treadmill; making plans - feel like for the last nine months everything we've talked about for the future has been cut off by "well, let's just see how we feel when the baby comes".
