Seriously fed up now, having a show and contractions ranging from 6 to 20 mins apart but nothing happening, waters still intact. This is baby no 3. I thought they would shoot out! Any advice to help move things along, I'm feeling desperate

Oh no poor you. I'm 40+4 with number 3 and was hoping for a speedy birth like I had with number 2. I just got back pain and the odd twinge nothing seems to come to much. I hope you have your lovely baby in your arms ASAP.
Maybe go for a walk if you feel up to it? Up and down stairs x

Thanks. I don't have a birthing ball have tried a walk but found that very uncomfortable. I really thought this labour would be fast. Just wondering if it's normal to go on this long or if I should worry. My mum keeps the texting me with birth horror stories and I'm finding it upsetting

Walk walk walk. ALthough I expect after 32hrs in labour that was the last thing you wanted to hear, sorry. And tell your mum to sod off, or switch off your phone.
With every contraction you are getting closer to meeting your baby Smile

Absolutely no idea what works in that situation. Is it a back to back baby? I had a back to back and it was 65 hours - the only thing that seemed to work was going for a walk with the tens machine round the village.

Thanks for your replies. I will waddle about and walk. I usually walk everyday just can't face it today but I will force myself. My mum means we'll but thank god she doesn't live near me or I would have throttled her by now she is just adding to my distress

My midwife told me to rest in labour, walking will use up your much needed energy! Told me to potter but not overdo it.

My 3rd labour was very stop start slow but as soon as I went into established labour it took 15 minutes .. good luck.

Also try hand exspressing that got mine going

Should I be worried about blood loss. When I go to the loo there is blood on the tissue but it's not running down my leg or gushing out or anything. First baby my waters broke and second was very fast as I had a sweep, this kind of labour is all new to me

Ring the hospital - it probably is all part of labour - I remember blood in labour with number 1 - but worth calling them to check they may want you to come in.

Hi frank, how are u? Ring the hospital just to be on the safe side but I'm sure that's part of labour. Is baby still moving ect? Hope all goes well xx

Hope you are well, my 3rd was the worst with stop/start labour. It was a year ago exactly! When he did decide to come out, he did shoot out, 2cm dilated to baby out in 9 minutes. All forgiven as he is officially the cutest baby ever!!!

Hi everyone I'm still at home still having contractions ranging from 4 to 20 mins but there getting stronger and longer. I phoned the hospital and I'm going in in half an hour but they have warned me they will send me home if everything ok but I need reassurance now it's been 42 hours roughly now. I'm hoping they might say ok enoughs, enough and let me stay. I've been rocking on all fours have found that helpful even had a doze like it

I honestly thought this one would be so quick I know you can predict nothing in labour. I'm hoping once it gets going it will be quick fingers crossed

Hope they keep you in. They took pity on me at 58 hours and let me come in because I was so exhausted. Lovely midwife made me eat tea and toast which was the best toast ever as I had forgotten to eat and therefore had no energy.

Good luck

I went in 43 hours in and they let me stay. Took another 17 hours but DS was turned to back to back. Snooze when you can and good luck!

First labour - text book, fairly fast, about 7 hours in total. Show - contractions - more contractions - hospital - baby - second degree tear.

Second labour - almost identical but at home. Second degree tear.

Third baby - waters went. No contractions. Threats of hospital induction. Curry, walking, birth ball, clary sage oil bribing baby out with biscuit. Bloody nothing for hours Then, contractions ramped up out of bloody nowhere and DS was born two hours later. But no tear!! Smile. He's 2 now and still contrary Hmm

I really feel for you. I got so fed up with the whole affair. My MW told me that 3rd labours are the wild card. Keep moving and try eating little and often. We're here to moan at if that helps. Very best of luck. Try to keep positive and think of your little baby. Ignore your mum's horror stories!

Thanks everyone. Just to update had my gorgeous little girl Sunday morning at 1
Didn't make it down to delivery room went from 2cm to pushing in roughly 2 hours. I have torn as the baby's hand was up by her head. Found it very traumatic the pethidine didn't work but thank god for gas and air have never screamed so much I'm my life
