Feeling so sick...

I'm 9 weeks 4 days (lmp) and I feel awful! Bloated and constantly feel like will throw up - thankfully have only done twice so far. Read to drink peppermint tea - so I do which kinda helps. Now I'm having awful heart burn and can barely swallow food - net States this can be brought on by peppermint tea! Could cry - there is no winning! I feel miserable.

I so want this baby - it's my third pregnancy but I've had two miscarriages - but I honestly wonder how I can get through tonight let alone 7 more months!! Sad

Oh luv, that sucks! I kind of went off mint tea after a while but found that strong mints helped a bit. My ms seems to have faded now, but the memory of it.... Urghh.. I have every sympathy for you.

The mints really did help - fisherman's friends or something strong and menthol. Hang on in there! Flowers

Oh you poor thing. I found eating little and often helped, because as soon as I felt hungry I was sick. Smells made me sick too so turned to munching dry crackers and breadsticks. Peppermint tea didn't work for me but Gin Gins and lemon tea did. I also ate a lot of satsumas! Good luck, remember it won't last forever and you get the best prize at the end Smile

Sipping sparkling water can help.
Try ginger tea made with fresh root ginger and honey.
Plain boiled rice in tiny quantities with a few drops of soy sauce used to stay down for me.
Ice lollies - the ordinary ones made with fruit squash are best.
Complete rest - difficult to achieve but it does help.

Oh - and a hot water bottle or heat pack against your stomach is very soothing.

I feel like I could have written your message OP!! Feel exactly the same as you and 9+5 today! After being sick at work twice this week, I've discovered ice cold drinks / lollies help, and I also bought some sea sickness bands which seem to be taking the edge off - worth a go!

Try tums or Rennes. They really work for me.

I'm 9+2 & feel exactly the same! I'm exhausted and feel so sick. How the hell am I going to cope with another 7 months of this? In fact, I feel so horrendous that I've convinced myself it's twins! Confused

Sour/fizzy sweets helped me a bit. I tried the sea sickness bands too and maybe it was a coincidence but they seemed to take the slightest edge off it. It really will become a distant memory soon :)

It might sound bizarre but I found eating sweet potatoes helped a lot.. They are sweet and I had them mashed so they were very gentle on my stomach plus it meant that my stomach was "lined" so I could eat other things with them...

The other thing that helped was noting what food I could eat without issue and just sticking with it... Hummus and carrots in my case which I think I have eaten pretty much every day of my pregnancy.

I'm had awful morning sickness. Not hyperemesis but just felt really really bad a lot of the time.
Firstly the advice about eating a biscuit in bed before getting up, was rubbish. I found it easier to get up, get all the dry heaving out of the way, and then eat.
It always feels better to eat something even tho you really can't face it. My sickness lasted all day, and I remember crying over my dinner as poor DH coaxed me to eat just a few mouthfuls. I did find I felt a bit better after eating but the nausea never really went away til later on in my pregnancy.
My only advice is keep your eyes on the prize, and force yourself to eat little and aften ( think of that lovely squidgy baby at the end) x

Sorry to hear you're so miserable, to add my tuppence worth... I ate exactly what I felt like and ate it often which for my first trimester meant I was never far from a brown bread peanut butter sandwich. A bit of googling helped me to find vitamin b6, on most supermarket shelves, which I take 20mg of in the morning and the same in the evening. I finished the first pack at about 3 months and thought I'd see what happened and didn't buy anymore but realised that it was actually making a difference so am still on it. Every now and again I forget a dose and can soon tell. I'm just going into my 4th month it doesn't stop the nausea fully and can be toxic in to large a dose or for too long (self-prescribed dose). Just remembered that in the beginning I would have a water based porridge or banana and peanut butter on toast before bed which helped to alleviate the morning nausea. At 9+ weeks I'd imagine. you ate meeting your midwife. soon who will be able to advise you too.
I hope it passes soon xx

oh and for me buying a chunk of root of ginger and peeling and slicing a bit and making a tea helped, honey to sweeten if you're not keen on the taste too. I suppose my general. rule was, whatever you fancy... have that! x

This is probably bad advice but I found fizzy drinks like a can of cold fanta helped me through the day. I don't normally drink them but they gave me energy. Also had a chocolate bar every day. Boiled sweets were good too. I just ate what I could manage.

I wanted to eat but most things made me feel sick.

My sickness is beginning to pass now - time to start healthy eating to make up for the last few weeks

I've actually felt a lot better the last few days since I started taking some bread & butter to bed on a night. Everytime I get up for a wee ( normally around 12am, 3am) I have a few bites of bread & it's made a massive difference in the morning. I've been eating every 2-3 hours during the day as well which keeps the nausea at bay. Hope you improve soon, OP.
