Is it blaringly obvious when you've had a show?

35+2 with first dc and have just discovered a big thick bit of mucous in my underwear. Is this a show? Or is a show more obvious than this? There is no blood. Thanks for your help.

With mine it was at 40+1 and pink

I think (not an expert) it comes away little by little and I certainly felt something was happening in the weeks before.

When is your next check up? Are you getting any pains in your back / light period type pain.

I've had period pains and back ache for about a week now sporadically, not regular at all though. I am next due to see mw a week today. I had no idea it could come away bit by bit. I am almost sure this is what's happening!

I didn't have mine until is already been in labour for 45 hours (3 hours before DD was born) but yes it was very obvious. It was a fist sized blob of mucus streaked with pink blood. Everyone is different though, good luck!

Mine came away in little bits over 2 days before I had my son but was always clear. Lost a huge clump just before delivering that was very bloody

It can regenerate too, mine came away in bits from that point and bsby came 40+12. I'd ignore it and carry on, don't drive yourself nuts.

Thanks everyone, it was big, probably about 50p sized. I've had heavier discharge recently but this was different and obviously with it being my first I'm on high alert!

I will keep watching and waiting :)

I'm so glad you asked this as I'm a week off my due date with twins and wondering the same thing. I've had increased discharge but it is generally creamy so I have discounted it as my show. Luckily have an appointment tomorrow so can check then but will follow this thread with interest.

Ah congrats on your twins 2015is Flowers I know what you mean, I've had creamy discharge too, but this was like a big glob like a sneeze. Sorry tmi. I'll follow this up with mw next week or possibly sooner depending what develops from here!

I had mine the morning I went into labour, it was a huge blob (size of my palm) of clear jelly-like stuff streaked with blood, so for me it was pretty obvious.

A show won't necessarily have blood in it, if you can stomach it Google image to see different types. Someone suggested this on the the antenatal thread I am on

chloechloe · 28/04/2015 02:25

Mine was pretty obvious - it came away in two big blobs of what looked like jelly, without any blood. I was sure it was a show as it was completely different to anything else I'd seen down there before! Yes if you can stomach it there are plenty of pics on Google!

I only have experience of mine and I can't vouch for it being 'typical' - but it manifested as a mucous blob about 20-50p size, later followed by a massive, bloody, hand sized thing akin to Metalhead's.

After the mega blob it was less than a day and I went into labour.

Ok so I now know there is a difference. Without giving tmi I had a definite blob of something that came out after my shower this morning that was a bit bigger than a 10p piece. I'm at the hospital anyway for my consultant appointment to discuss my birth options so now have something very real to discuss with them!
For anyone reading this who isn't sure, you'll know when you see it!

Mine came away just like you describe (large blob, no blood) two weeks ago but still here a 38 weeks. I let it worry me for days- don't be me Smile

I am currently 29 weeks and sat in my local maternity unit attached to a CTG machine. Babies heartbeat is good so far however last night I had a massive dollop of mucusy discharge, probably bigger than a 50p piece.

Haven't had anything since however I'm waiting for the doctor to come and check my downstairs.

Wish me luck ladies Sad

I forgot to say the discharge was bloody and pinkish too

My show was a creamy strawberry fruit corner looking concoction, there was loads, thick and just blobbed out one night when I went to the loo (then more in my underwear)

It came as a bit of a shock at the time and I did feel periody.

That was the day I went in to labour, baby was born 48 hours later (it was a long labour!)

i felt mine go and it was much much bigger than a 50p. it didn't go till half way through labour though.
i'd guess you've just lost a bit of yours. some people seem to lose it in bits.

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 28/04/2015 18:49

Mine was a hell of a lot bigger than a 50p too!

Hmmm so I know I definitely had a blob of something th colour of old blood mixed with egg white cervical mucous this morning but since then I've had a much wetter yellowy discharge with mucky bits in. What is the MN thought about whether this is my plug coming away in dribs and drabs or is this something else altogether?
