Hello ladies.

Has anyone tried this sling from John Lewis and would you recommend?

Not tried them but speak to your local sling library first. They'll have some to try.

Honestly, dont buy a sling until the baby is here and you can try them out - so much depends on things you can't gauge until you have an actual baby. I second the local sling library suggestion. Otherwise you could be headed for an expensive white elephant.

Definitely Google your local sling library and go try some out. You can go before the baby arrives if you want to be prepared otherwise head there with your baby when you're ready. You'll also get advice on how to wear your baby safely so it's a good idea to go.

I've not heard bad things about them but definitely try before you buy if you can. There's a great group in facebook called slings and things fsot and they can see you right with information.

I had it and loved it. But no good after 4 months as my DS sat early and kept trying to climb out. Passed on to DSis. DN was tiny and hated being put down but sling was ok for her too

I have this sling and it is brilliant for me. My daughter is 12lb 10 oz and 15 weeks and really loves being in it. But agree with everyone who suggests trying if you can. We got two slings/carriers and have only really been able to use the sling from the start, dd didn't seem to be comfortable and seemed far too small (not sure how at 9lb9.5oz at birth!) in the carrier which stated from birth. So if you can get to a sling library and try with your baby that would better, so you can be certain of finding a sling that works for you and baby.

I help at my local sling library and love carrying my little one is a sling. I'd second the advice about not spending the money before your little one is born, but I would go to the sling library before she is here so you know what your options are.

I had a Close Caboo and a Moby wrap when my baby was newborn. I slightly preferred the Moby as although it was more of a faff with all the fabric, I found it comfier. I went to a sling meet to learn how to tie it properly. We used both of these up to about 4 months. Personally I would only really recommend a stretchy type wrap for a newborn up to about this age, after then buckles may be more practical for you. (or you might get into fabric wraps, opening up a whole new world)

At 4 months I hired a Connecta, which is a buckled carrier and found that very easy, comfy and portable.

Then, at about 6 months I bought an Ergo which we are still using at nearly 2 years old.

This is a list of the sling libraries in the UK so you should be able to find one near you.
