Brown bleeding is usually normal especially around 4 weeks as this can be implanting. As long as it stays brown it should be OK, only be concerned if it goes bright red. I have had brown spotting through my entire pregnancy and i am now 25 weeks. It CAN be ok, don't panic just yet. But i can understand that it is scary! Congratulations too :D X

thank you both, appreciate your time
I think it was just a bit of a shock tbh. I've been on mn long enough to know all sorts happen in early days, seems so different when its you (and friends have had mc recently so probably more sensitive)
Fingers and toes crossed this phase passes, its taken a fair old while ttc

I had a lot of brown bleeding, apparently your cervix is quite prone to little abrasions when you are pregnant, that caused all of mine

I had brown spotting at 4 and 5 weeks and am now 11 weeks pregnant and have had 2 scans due to recurrent MC and baby was wriggling away with a strong Heartbeat :) Brown spotting isn't always a sign of something bad Thanks

Me too, I had dark brown bleeding when wiping from around 4/5 weeks, which worried me immensely as we had been unsuccessful in ttc for 27 months. I was referred by my gp to epu for an early scan which showed a strong heartbeat, the bleeding appeared to be outside the womb so I was told there is no cause for concern, and everything looked normal. The 12 week scan again clearly showed the area of cervical bleeding, which continued until 16 weeks by which time it had reduced to light pink spotting before disappearing completely. I am now almost 28 weeks. Generally it is most probably nothing to worry about unless you experience heavy red bleeding along with strong pain/cramps, but do speak to your doctor if it persists and he will send you for an early scan for your peace of mind.

Try to keep calm chchch (I know, I know easier said than done!)
I had this for weeks from the week after BFP thru to just under 3 weeks ago - currently 13+4.
I've also had pink spotting and one bout of red. After the red one I got an early scan and everything was fine with baby - no obv reason for bleeding and nothing since then.
Before 6 weeks it's unlikely you would see a heartbeat in an early scan so even if u contact ur doctor, they may suggest waiting a couple of weeks and getting back in touch if you experience bleeding and cramps that are unbearable after taking paracetamol.
Congratulations, try and relax Flowers

Hi, me too. Panicking!! I had a scan last week and it showed heartbeat and measured around 6 weeks. My dates were 6 weeks 4 day. Yesterday afternoon I had a small amount of brown discharge. Seems to have stopped now. It was enough to stain my pants though! (Sorry tmi). Anyone else have this. Trying not to panic. I have another scan booked for Thursday.

I've had both outcomes, first pregnancy some spotting at 6 weeks but a scan showed all was fine and he's now. Bringing 2yr old. Then this summer with my 2nd pregnancy, brown discharge over a couple of days at 10 weeks. After phoning around was told that A&E was my only option. By the time I'd waited there it was clear that ow was a miscarriage.

I'd recommend contacting EPU to set your mind at ease and because of it does go badly you should be checked out.

Fingers crossed for you

If you are only 1-2 weeks there isn't anything they can check yet anyway apart from having a look at your cervix, too early to see anything in a scan until your HCG levels are over 1000 and they like it to be at least 1500 just in case.
