Hey all,

Just wondered how you are all occupying your time for the last few weeks? I'm 39 + 1 with my 1st baby and trying to keep my mind active to take away from thinking of the birth Confused

So...each day I'm 'trying' to go for a walk, eating Blush lots Blush and I've come across the box set 'The Killing' omg it's AMAZING!!! What a great distraction, after each episode I swear it could put me into labour!! So good!! I'm too uncomfortable to be out and about for too long now so my box set is keeping me company Grin

How are all you ladies doing?

Cherry x

Last time I was working on the Friday, went into the labour on Monday morning (thankfully, not on the train on the way to work!) So I had no break at all before DS arrived.

This time I won't be working so close to my due date and my DS will still be going to nursery so I'm going to read magazines and have long baths and meet friends for lunch and watch all the box sets I haven't got time for now. It will be HEAVEN (and of course I'll give birth even earlier this time so won't get to do any of this stuff, but I can dream).

I'm 35+5 just now, have a section booked for 39 weeks, and am working until 38+2. So will have 5 days between finishing work and baby coming! Everything is organised so dont have much to do. And I'll get bored lying about the house. To be honest, I'll probably stick the laptop on and work from home. I've absolutely flown through this pregnancy with no issues whatsoever, so hopefully that continues.

Not to scare you but you might not get that far Gudgyx - I was 37+1.

Thanks Cherry - I hope so too! Enjoy the peace while it lasts ;)

Yeah true! I know I could probably go at any point, I'm very close to the hospital whether I'm at work or home (home and office are about 3 minutes apart) so I'd rather be here and keeping myself occupied! I barely even feel pregnant most of the time, until I catch a sideways glimpse of myself in the mirror, constant kicking has become the norm haha.

Started mat leave this week at 36 weeks. Mw actually told me to stop. Incidently my blood pressure has dropped already! So this week I have shopped for a nursing bra (in a redunculous size), registered with the local gp (as we moved last year and it's my first time when I can actually get things done) and played copious amounts of Xbox! And slept! No more 6 am starts till LO arrives! Grin
Might even decide to wash up today (or leave it as a present for OH like usual!)...

I've also been spending more time beautifying myself Grin sounds very indulgent I know, but doing my nails and having facials etc is something I don't always have time to do. So I'm maximising this time before my baby comes along! x

Yes yes to beautifying! I had DH paint my toenails in the last few weeks and the midwives commented on them during labour Grin.

Actually I have a question..will they ask me to take my nail varnish off my fingers during labour? I'm low risk, think I heard something about not be allowed to wear nail varnish.

I'm 37+4 and am working till 39 weeks. I'm a teacher and currently trying to make sure all my assessment data is up to date and reports are done before I go off! Luckily I have some time at home to do them today although keep getting distracted from the task.
Although DH keeps saying it could happen any time now I don't think the reality will hit until I go on leave.

I'm 38+5 & finished work at 37 weeks. Have been tidying the house the last few days, had my carpets cleaned & stuff. Started watching sons of anarchy last Wednesday & am now on season 4! Absolutely loving it!
Apart from that, I've got the hairdressers tomorrow & a breast feeding class on Friday & I'm trying to go out for a walk every day. Have squeezed in a few meals out with my husband too, making the most of this time together (ftm here).
When I was at work I thought I would be bored by this point but now the time is actually going really quickly Grin

Hi, Im 37+6 today. I'm between bouncing on my fit ball and reading my Birth Skills book! So many books...so little time! I lost my plug 3 days ago, so could be anytime!
And there was me thinking the two week wait was hard! Wink

Cherry, was at antenatal class on Monday and mw said normal nail polish is fine as it's easily removed but doesn't recommend gel polish as they will need to remove if you end up having a c section for the finger monitor to work properly.

Day 3 of mat leave here at 38+1 I'm finding the days quite enjoyable. Pottering about doing bits of cleaning/sorting/organising but then taking long rests as everything is so exhausting right now! Trying to walk each day but its hard work! I'm planning a shopping trip and daytime cinema trip for next week to see the 50 shades movie. Going to sneak in when its quiet to save the blushes, lol Blush

Jenny I'm a teacher too. Though you're s legend for lasting longer than me. Tbh I was still on a full time timetable till I left and it was killing me when I had to trek across school for different lessons. Did get my data done before I left thankfully. I think my Hod will be sending some administration over next week if baby doesn't arrive. (Which I've been told is a possibility.)
Now, to write/ edit my book or read some trash? Oh the decisions!

They can put a saturation probe on your ear if needs be!!

I'm only 22 weeks but plan on finishing at 32 weeks. (Using up annual leave)

I intend to get a mani/pedi. Never normally have the chance because of my work. But it's on my list Grin

My work is manic busy, both mentally and physically. I'm SOOOO looking forward to my time off. Don't care if I'm bored to tears. I will find plenty to distract me. Got a pile of books to read, ncis set box to watch and access to the American AND the UK versions of Netflix.

Plus MN to read Smile

Thanks Peppermint re the nail polish question Smile I've just popped out to buy a few bits, but my back is so painful after such a short amount of time I just end up wanting to go home and snuggle on the sofa in a load of cushions drinking tea and eating biscuits Blush

Today I bought some organic raspberry leaf tea in the hope it may kick start things! Let's see what happens x

I'm finishing at 35 weeks, but that's not till the beginning of May (burning up all my holiday allowance before mat leave) Not sure how mobile I'll be, but YY t facials, lots and lots of Xbox, and internetting. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to sit outside.

I am currently 36+2 and I finish on Friday. I can't wait to finish now as
I just want time to do final prep and have some relaxing me time.

Next week I have planned a few lunches, pedicure and waxing and a mum to be massage (a birthday gift). Here's hoping I'll get chance to have next week to do all these things and there's no early arrival. I'd at least like a week of me time. In between I just want to get the house all tidy and ready for baby's arrival plus some walks.

cherryblossom i have started on the raspberry leaf tea. I think I scared my manager last week as they'd heard it can bring on labour. I told them my midwife said to take from 34 weeks to get my body prepared for labour - I think i'm going to last till Friday Smile

38+4 with baby no.5. I'm too fed up n sore to do anything, have no motivation whatsoever as I'm shattered. Been sleeping for couple of hrs everyday whilst my 2yr old dd sleeps. I'm so lucky that she does everyday. I'm being induced at 39+6 on 13th feb, bring it on! Lol

I'm 36+1 and finished work on Friday. Currently full of cold, with 3 yr old DS full of cold too. We had to stop childcare as am only on stat mat allowance, and he's going through a trying phase. So not enjoying mat leave much at the moment. Too tired to be patient or entertaining.

I'm also drinking copious amounts of raspberry leaf tea.
