Leggings and pants for hospital bag

I'm putting together my bag and just wondered what the general advice is about leggings and pants being over or under bump?
If under bump I'd need longer tops which might be more awkward for breastfeeding.
Currently I have lots of black pants (and generally wear a big pant style) so thought I could wear and chuck them rather than wearing and chucking new pants. Or would I need them to be extra bigger?
Also I'm expecting a vaginal birth but realise that it could end up in EMCS. If so would it make a difference to what I need?

I just had a pack of big pants from m&s in a size bigger than I usually take. I didn't chuck them - just washed and rewore for a couple of months weeks (soooo comfy!). I also had comfy joggers in a size up from my pre pg size, but not maternity ones so I guess you would consider them "under bump", but although not gone your bump will have deflated somewhat and be a lot softer.

I didn't have a c section so can't answer that one properly, but I'm guessing you wouldn't want anything pressing on your stomach.

I've packed over bump things incase I have to have an EMCS. No one has told me I'm at risk of needing one but you never know.

I had an EMCS and wore normal leggings. There was a thick dressing on the scar and the leggings did not have a tight waistband.
I had long tops and just pulled boob over the top for feeding, cos I'm classy like that.

Thanks. Maybe I'll pack one of each.
I wonder if I could find some long vest tops as I could easily pull them down rather than up...

This is so much more complicated than I thought it would be!

Re breastfeeding, while I was in hospital I just wore a couple of vest tops from mothercare which had unclippable straps - the wards were so warm anyway you didn't need to wear much more. Once home, I used the two top approach - a stretchy vest top with a normal top over the top, pull the vest top down and the normal top up, and you can access boob with minimal skin exposure :)

Over bump legging for sure. You'll probably still have an 8 month size bump for the first couple of days. Something like a Belly Bandit can be really useful too, not really for it's slimming qualities but just for the support.
I second using clip down vests nursing vests with a normal top but don't worry about having your boobs full on out, everyone else will - it's surprising how quickly you get used to it Smile
