What do you have for breakfast?

I'm fussy like a child and usually have a croissant for breakfast, but it's just not filling me up anymore (24+3).
What do you have for breakfast? I'm not one of these people that can't stomach certain things in the morning, I'm up for anything (that I like).
I just don't have any ideas.

Thanks smile

Porridge is good as it's healthy and very filling, and you can add what you like to it - berries, bananas, some honey smile

Bran flakes and ice cold milk. Only thing that didn't make me feel sick in first tri and now the only thing that fill me up for longer than 30mins!

Hot cross bun or banana on toast (when I can actually stomach breakfast).

I'm fussy too and used to be a coffee and croissant on the way to work person until I got married to a man who always has a filling breakfast and realised that doing the same made me eat healthier all day.

Now I have a yogurt followed by toast (malty, seedy half wheat half rye bread). In the week I always have Marmite on the toast but at weekends I go for a bit more variety: blackcurrant jam and banana is a current favourite as is peanut butter. This really fills me up and I don't feel hungry for snacks even if I have to take lunch later than usual.

Normally some all bran. It's part of my plan to keep piles at bay for as long as possible.

Either Shreddies and milk or a poached egg on toast. Or a boiled egg if I feel frivolous smile

On a weekend I make more effort though. This morning I had a sausage sandwich, last weekend I made some tomatoey butter beans and had them on toast.

JennyBlueWren Sat 24-Jan-15 11:03:24

I normally have cereal and a glass of milk (pre-pregnancy it was orange juice but that now brings on indigestion).
When I'm not working I often have a boiled egg and toast.
Wholemeal toast or fiberous cereals are best to fill you up and keep you feeling full.

Currently (36 weeks) I'm often waking up at 3 or 4am feeling hungry and normally have a small bowl of cereal or slice of toast.

Err...I've embraced the two breakfasts approach blush. Toast when I first get up...and another couple of slices an hour later! I'll go back to one breakfast once bubba is here (honest)

Special K & whole grain toast. Only have the Special K if I can stomach it though.

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 24-Jan-15 11:16:32

One slice of toast with almond butter when I wake up, then porridge when I get to work!

JennyBlueWren Sat 24-Jan-15 11:19:19

Ooh almond butter sounds nice -is that like peanut butter?

lollygagger Sat 24-Jan-15 11:24:01

I second almond butter, tis lovely. I eat it on oatcakes with sliced apple for a nice quick breakfast that's filling and healthy. Alternatively, porridge with berries, hemp protein powder and a teaspoon of coconut oil with some nuts sprinkled over the top. This keeps me going until lunch.
Protein is the key ingredient that will keep you going longer combined with some healthy carbs for energy (which you'll be needing just now!).

I'm another one who has branflakes, often with a banana sliced over. If you like croissants, why not just have two instead of one?

MrsLovell Sat 24-Jan-15 15:43:41

Porridge with blueberries, raisins and cinnamon on top. It was the only thing that would stay down in my first trimester and keeps me full till lunch, now I can't do without it!

Racheyg Sat 24-Jan-15 17:22:13

I agree with the two breakfasts grin
I have wholemeal toast with marmite (good source of folic acid) at 7.30 and the about 10.00 I have 0% greek yogurt with berries

I'm a two breakfast person when pregnant too... I usually have a small slice of toast with marmalade before I do the school run, then after it's eggs all the way. I have time as I'm a SAHM so I either have a couple of boiled eggs with diced tomato drizzled with olive oil, lemon juice an sea salt, or scrambled eggs on toast, or like this morning half an avocado with a 2 egg omelette and raw spinach ( avocado and spinach drizzled with the same olive oil, lemon and sea salt combo).
Sometimes I meet a friend for breakfast at a cafe in the local park and we have the special - toast, home fries (diced fried potato), eggs and sausage/ham/bacon..... I LOVE that grin especially as we walk around the park after to work it off and get some fresh air

One of my cravings, sainsburys golden syrup mini wheat bites (mini shredded wheat with syrup in the middle)

plinkyplonks Sat 24-Jan-15 18:05:18

Chocolate banana oat pancakes made with milk, banana, oats and cocoa powder (egg optional) - all blitzed together to make the batter. NOM NOM NOM!

If I'm feeling lazy though, I'll just have some cereal, porridge or have some toast with butter on :D

milkandchalk Sat 24-Jan-15 18:08:40

I don't have breakfast. I throw up instead. I've been keeping cereal bars in my desk drawer at work now though as I sometimes feel well enough for a nibble before 9am!

tuffgingernut Sat 24-Jan-15 18:14:34

Definitely a fan of the two breakfast approach. I usually have 1 weetabix and a handful of bran flakes before the school run (it's a 2 mile walk and pre pregnancy I do it easily on an empty stomach, now at 38 weeks it takes me twice as long) 2nd breakfast at 10ish is seeded bread toasted. Keeps me going pretty well until lunch.

Sherylberyl Sat 24-Jan-15 18:37:57

Fear.

OneFlewOverTheMumsNest Sat 24-Jan-15 18:43:19

My current breakfast (and sometimes dinner too!) craving is fruit, muesli and Greek yogurt. Probably very healthy if it weren't for the quantities I'm consuming!

greenlizard Sat 24-Jan-15 19:13:08

I am another one who is trying to keep piles at bay for as long as possible grin and also have a double breakfast. 32 weeks and i am always starving!

During the week I have Shredded wheat minis (or porridge or all bran) with Prunes/apricots and extra oatbran with skimmed milk before work at 7 then fruit and Greek yoghurt about 10 ish at my desk.

At the weekend it's all about eggs - boiled, scrambled or poached with wholemeal toast and fruit. If I have time I love an omelette with lots of veg esp. Mushroom, spinach and tomatoes with a bit if chilli to spice it up...
