Just that really, I'm only 7+4 so I'm a long way off buying anything but just out of curiousity I'd love to know what you all had as your first purchase for baby. Smile

Not purchase but got a gift from my mom-she knitted her 2 pairs of booties, yellow and pink.
Then we bought couple of outfits together-this was at 17w

Congrats! I just treated myself to a novelty babygrow shortly after my 12 week scan, just because of the excitement and then waited until 30ish weeks to buy anything else...

Oh gosh how can you be patient and sensible and wait that long? I am imagining I'd start buying after about 13 weeks, although maybe that will change when I get there...

With my ds I waited till after the 20wk scan and brought a (unisex) brightly coloured blanket.

I'm now 6wks with second baby am won't buy or look at anything till the same.

It's your baby your decision.

With my ds everything was bought at around 20 weeks. I bought a couple of babygros etc after my 12 week scan.
With my dd I had everything bought by 16 weeks..I got given a load of stuff as my friend had a dd a few months before I fell pregnant.
With this one I haven't bought anything yet. The only thing I need are clothes as I got rid of my dds and a double buggy as my dd is only just 1 but my mum is buying my pram for me after my 20 week scan so not much for me to get as I still have cot bouncer steriliser etc
Im now almost 14 weeks

I didn't even bother getting scanned until gone 20 weeks with both.. Oops

So about 28 weeks we bought some booties and hat sets. Then researched everything else and ordered around 34 weeks

At 19 weeks a friend took me to a second hand sale and I bought a travel system, lots of clothes, some books and not sure what else!

Yesterday (35 weeks) I went through my list of what I still need and spent £40 on Mothercare getting bits I'd missed.

Hi, congratulations! I'm currently 27 weeks, started buying a few weeks ago, can't remember exactly when though! First thing bought was by my mum when we went on a food shopping trip to Asda, she bought a set of tops and bottoms, we couldn't resist! And I bought a little pair of bootees. I've since bought a few more items of clothing, a set of bottles, and we've also been given a second hand changing station! Ive also started stocking up on nappies, wipes, baby oil etc! I've started making a patchwork sort of blanket too which is keeping me busy and is really therapeutic! X

With DD I bought a snow suit after my 20 week scan and a Moses basket at about 24 weeks, then probably nothing until 30 weeks. Now 16 weeks pregnant with DC2 and haven't bought anything yet, although to be honest we have everything from 14 month old DD and all we need is a double buggy which I will buy as late as possible as I will have to sell our single and don't want to be pushing DD around in a double for too long before baby comes along.

Report
fattymcfatfat · 19/01/2015 09:09

Gottobe.... dont sell your single! Save it. Thats what I am doing as once my dd is walking then new baby can go into the pram I already have (my dd has just gone 13 months). I love my pram and dont want to get rid so im not.

I would love to but not sure we can afford a double without selling our single to put the money towards it Confused. DD is only 14 months so we paid out £800 for a pram when she was born, we weren't expecting to have another so soon so hadn't budgeted to buy another. I've checked and our single has a good resale value on eBay.

I was a bit of a nightmare! I started buying little bits a couple of weeks after I found out, so about 8 weeks! I was shopping with my mum and we were so excited (first baby and first grandchild on both sides) and I couldn't resist a hooded baby towel, safari print baby gro and some muslins from the little white company! I then waited until after the 12 week scan and started to get bits together, I'm now 26weeks and have most of my stuff, pram, car seat, cot bed, moses basket, steriliser, baby bath and play mat was gifted to us, baby bouncer, a few more clothes bibs, muslins, hats, blankets, comforters and soft toys Confused.... I think I have kept the Little White company in business!

As others have said, it's your choice when you feel comfortable buying things, I couldn't contain myself even though I planned to wait until after my scans! Congratulations by the way! Smile

Got - do hold back on buying Double until last minute. We have a 15 month gap and never bought a double. Just baby in sling first few months, then added buggy board which they used if tired. Train eldest now gradually

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 19/01/2015 10:52

Yeah that's what I'm thinking Art. I'm going to wait and see how confident DD is at walking by the time baby comes along (she already wants to walk everywhere!) then see if we can get away with a sling/buggy board when the baby comes along.

Are you after a side by side or a tandem??? I have found a tandem that I want and its only 180 in babies r us. Ive tried it out and it is very sturdy and my older daughter is very happy in it. The front seat also reclines partially so if older one does drop off they arent stuck upright. Its the my child sienna tandem. I think its on ebay a bit cheaper too. Im quite lucky as my mum is buying it for me.

A skip hop play gym. This isn't my first child, I know full well it's massively over priced for what it is, and they don't use it long but it was just too cute and we were over excited ha ha

Had a 9 week emergancy scan, confirmed all was good and was so happy I went to the nearest shop to the hospital and bought loads of grows, a comforter and a blanket! Then after 20 week scan I went out and bought the rest within a week!

I'm almost 17 weeks and the only thing I've bought is a snuggi baby bouncer. If anyone isn't signed up to Bounty sign up. The bouncer was £70 and I paid £19! Great price! We are moving house hopefully in Feb as waiting for contract exchange so limited on what we can buy until then though.

I bought a novelty baby grow at about 10 weeks. I figured that buying something wasn't going to do any harm.
I am 22w1d and have pretty much everything now, got nursery furniture in the sale and a pram! And got a moses basket 2nd hand and a car seat and isofix fixture from a friend! I literally need a baby bath and that's about it now. But I wish I didn't do it so early as the next 4 months are going to drag lol

swanny I don't think babies need Muslims, but you may find muslins handy. :D

Some white baby grows at about 35 weeks after a scan said baby was breech and I had been advised to have the turning thing and warned it could lead to a c section. A dear friend had a few things to lend us but I was so paranoid after a long long journey with much sadness that I just didn't want to get my hopes up. Even when we had things I spent a bit of my maternity leave before ds arrived crying over a Moses basket that it was all going to go wrong.
