Constant coughs and colds- anyone else?

Hello

This is mostly a whinge because I'm fed up. I'm 26 weeks.

My first pregnancy I was fit as a fiddle all through. Admittedly that was during Spring/Summer. This time round, since October I have had colds and coughs one after another. I know I'm lucky not to have other, worse pregnancy related problems but I'm fed up of being poorly.

I'm due at work for a 14 hour shift tomorrow, I do a stressful and physically tiring job in healthcare. I was off sick just three weeks ago with the previous cold, and they are desperately short-staffed, I just don't feel like I can ring in sick again tomorrow, especially since it's a saturday and a long shift. I'm full of snot and have an icky cough.

Anyone else had loads of colds this winter? How long does it take for your immune system to recover after giving birth?

There's still several months of winter to go! Mat leave can't come soon enough.

Yes!!! I have had a virus since 10th Dec. mostly sore throat and cough. Went to doctors the following week and he prescribed antibiotics for a week. After that I was a bit better and ok on Christmas day, but Boxing Day my nose was so blocked I could hardly breath. Again it got better last week though not 100%, last 2 days though I have had really bad cold gain and I don't know if it is same virus or another one!! I do know some others who have been ill for weeks and are not pregnant. I am 25 weeks and sick of it now! My pregnancy is fine and great and I love being pregnant but this is spoiling it

Oh I hear you!

I've been waking with a horrid chesty cough every morning for ages! It abated for christmas, but came back last week.

I sound like an old smoker!

I'm with you. not fun. One friend recommended tumeric and apple cider vinegar. The other suggested floradix. Am just waiting for my current tummy bug to settle before I add anything new to the mix.

I was reading a thread on here just before Xmas and someone recommended Boots first defence spray. Its suitable for use in pregnancy and doesn't cost much. I dont know how it works but it does! Worth a try if yr prone to colds
