Young cousin (21) is still at home and pregnant... What help can she get? The dad is a waste of space!

Well, my cousin is due in June. She came out of six month relationship and fell straight into a 'relationship' with a real dud! She was out of work but looking seriously and now she is pregnant, the dad is not really interested at all and is not going to be supportive, it seems. He missed her first scan and is basically giving her the impression she'll be going it alone.
Her mum, who she lives with, has other children, is a single mum struggling to work and keep things afloat after her partner passed a couple of years ago. It's going to be a tight squeeze in their house and money is going to be even tighter.
Is there any kind of help my cousin can get? Anything she can apply for? I don't think she has any real understanding of how hard it's going to be...and, since she found out she's having a baby, her so-called friends have all but deserted her. She's struggling with low mood now, so I'm worried about how she'll cope, even with the help and support of her mum and other family.
Thanks.

Hey!

She can try to rent a property and claim housing benefit and council tax relief for it (she'll probably need to do this once baby is born rather than before)

As she's not working she'll be entitled to income support, until the baby is 5 years old.

She'll also get child benefit which is roughly £20 per week

And tax credits which will come to around £200 per month

It's going to be a very tight squeeze for her! You can get plenty of good quality baby items from primark/ nearly new sales/ eBay/ car boots ect

Id also really really recommend she learns to cook cheap food, like really learn how to make quality meals for cheap!

Absolute best of luck to her! Hopefully she claims child support off the child's father, he needs to take some responsibility for this!
