Pica in pregnancy OR I want to eat talcum powder

Blush

26 weeks pregnant. Iron levels are fine. Last week I had a real craving for the smell of talcum powder, found an old tub and couldn't stop sniffing/smelling it. Which has now moved on to licking it off my hand Hmm

I really really want to eat it. This is weird no? Last pregnancy I had the same thing but with washing powder (did not eat it obviously) and it went as soon as the baby arrived.

Yeah so...,please tell me I'm not the only one

You're not the only one! In my first pg I had Pica and used to chew anything rubber, had dreams about sinking my teeth into tyres!!

I had Pica before and after my first pregnancy, I wanted to eat soil and chew ice. I didn't eat soil thankfully, but would sniff soil haha.

The ice thing continued right through breastfeeding. I had low iron levels x

You are not the only one, I'm now pregnant with my third baby and everytime most of my cravings have been non edible. The smell of the johnsons baby bath(blue bottle) I couldn't get enough of. I had baths just so I could squeeze it on a baby sponge and chomp down on it. Then a craving for lemon bleach kicked in, my bathroom and kitchen have never been so clean. The smell was heavenly. I haven't had my iron levels or anything checked.

I was obsessed with furniture polish! Don't think i wanted to ingest it but i kept a can by my bed to smell, and polished everything every hour day!

Ok time for Blush ... You're not the only one!

When I was pregnant with number 3, I couldn't get enough of sponges! You know the really soft round baby ones...I would sit in the bath, wet one, wring it out then bite it. Didn't take chunks off or ingest it but just couldn't resist biting them!

I could have quite happily chewed on elastic bands when I was pg with ds1. I used to go and sniff the stationery cupboard at work!
