Pregnancy

supposedly "5 weeks" but big bump and baby movement?

hi all.
This is baby number two, had my first in may 2013, so close enough to remember!

Going from the last bleed I had at beginning of December I am currently just over 5 weeks,
However I did a test a week and a half before my "period" was due, and I was positive, also I seem to have popped put quite significantly, an unmissable bump, and the last few days I feel sure I can feel those first baby flutters!

I haven't seen a midwife yet and won't till the end of January but I feel sure I am further along than the 5 weeks the doctor worked out, the only thing is I had the coil in up until the end of November so doc said its impossible that I'm any further on.
I had the coil taken out because of a lot of pain suddenly, and a scan showed it may be in the wrong place.
Does this mean I could actually be further along than suspected?
I had a suspiciously pregnant feeling which is why I did a test.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Tasha :) x

A friend recently had an ectopic pregnancy with a coil. It is possible to get pregnant with one.

You could be, it is impossible you would feel anything at 5 weeks.

Hi OP you mentioned you had a scan I am guessing the scan would have shown the pregnancy if you were further along . Also dr/midwife can feel you abdomen and see if your further along . Smile

Perhaps what you are feeling is not movement, but the uterus stretching?

I am sure I could feel little twinges of movement at 5-6 weeks, but it wasn't it was just wind and stretching.

Pretty sure I am feeling random movements now at 11 weeks.

I would think you are as pregnant as the doc things, especially if you had a scan to see the location of the coil.

Hi thanks for the replies. Oh yeah I agree if I am actually only 5 weeks, there's no way I'm feeling movements, but because it feels so like it did later on in my first pregnancy I wonder what the chances are? I've heard of a few people getting pregnant with the coil in.

A few details I didn't add were that the internal scan didn't pick up a coil, I had the scan as I was having severe pains. The doctor and a nurse then went in, found, and removed the coil, which was in their words "stuck" and "not in the right place" I was in so much pain I didn't care until I thought I was pregnant, which we are incredibly happy about as we planned to have it out this year and try for a second baby anyway :)

I think another doctor appt is the next step to be honest. I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts, so.much appreciated ?? xx

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but one of my friends turned out to be about 4 weeks further on than estimated when she had her scan because although she'd counted from what she thought was her last period, it was very light and probably wasn't a period after all.

I felt 'movement' at 5 weeks. I definitely was only 5 weeks as had 2 scans since so I'm putting the bubbles down to wind/stretching/uterus flutters. It felt exactly like the movement I felt at around 17 weeks with DD.

I could "feel" the "baby" move even when I wasn't pregnant! Sometimes it's just wind...

Sorry, I don't have any coil experiences, but was your bleed in December light or heavy? If it was light, maybe you were already pg and it was just breakthrough bleed.

I have a friend who fell pregnant while she had the coil. I would DEFINITELY contact the GP or midwife and request a dating scan to double check. I would think that the pregnancy might have been picked up when they scanned to investigate the coil, but if they weren't looking for it it is possible they might not see it I suppose....

Hi, I've made a doctor's appt for tomorrow to find out if he can have a feel and see where my uterus is. This is my "bump"!! It was virtually flat before the pg so isn't just podge haha :)

Perhaps it is a combination of bloating/wind that account for bump and movement, it's definitely possible, but as my december bleed wasn't much at all as I didn't really get periods I can't really go off that.
Also the internal scan was early October which was way before I would of conceived but by the time the results were back and I'd got a docs appt once for results and once for removal it was december. As the coil was potentially not in place I wonder if I could've fallen pg between the scan and the removal in december. Definitely not before as had a routine pregnancy test at docs before the scan :|
Complicated!
Thanks for all your thoughts they are much appreciated. The husband just said to wait and see at the scan but not sure if I can wait that long to know why I'm so huge.... Maybe it's multiples! Ha. Xx

Wow that's a major bump at 5 weeks. No idea how fast the bump arrives in 2nd pg but mine wasn't even that big at 18 weeks with my first.

2nd pregnancies you do get a bump early (well I did, and certainly with DC3!)

You could possibly be further along or more than one.

Best to get an early scan and make sure I would say x
