I am 6 weeks and 2 days along. My partner and I DTD this morning and a couple of hours later I have noticed a small amount of brownish blood in my pants. I have no cramps and I don't think I'm bleeding anymore. I have looked online and seen bleeding afer sex is common but mainly in second and third trimester. Just wanted to see if other people had experienced it and if I need to be worried? Thank you.

I had this at both 5 weeks and 8 weeks except it was more pinkish, midwife thinks its from my cervix, due to lletz treatment the previous year, and have been told to abstain until after my 20 week scan (which is on Tuesday) just so they can check its not related to my placenta, talk to your midwife tomorrow

I haven't seen my midwife yet. Shall I call the doctors surgery tomorrow?

I think its always worth contacting them even if just for reassurance

I had this too in the 1st trimester, got it checked, GP said I had a "sensitive" cervix and to refrain until 12w scan. Now 39w, never happened again and no cervix issue (long, tonic, closed).
Hope it's reassuring :)

I had it about a week before I found out I was pregnant and then at around 11 weeks. I didn't get it checked as I wasn't worried, I'm now nearly 14 weeks and there was nothing to worry about Grin xx

I wouldn't worry much unless it gets worse. I spot after sex sometimes as I have erosion which I have previously had cauterisations for. It happened in the first 6 weeks of pregnancy regularly but it has stopped now, maybe due to cervix rising?

I've heard it can happen. However I'm 13 weeks with second baby. Haven't experienced this with either pregnancies - I'm sure it's fine but if it was me I would panic.

Midwife told us to just be aware it happens often in 1st trimester and usually baby is ok. (I wouldn't let partner near me and she was saying it's totally safe).
I had an internal done early on and list brown discharge but didn't lead to blood and Dr said was fine....scan 2 weeks later showed baby fine.

At this stage you can go to your GP and request a scan at the EPU.
I've had a few miscarriages with almost identical beginnings though colours varied from pink to brown, but I won't be going down that line because it's awful.
However, for every bad outcome, there's a totally innocent explanation and a positive tale .
With my last pregnancy I had a pink bleed at around your time frame. Needless to say, I was crushed, "well, here we go again."
Luckily I was encouraged to seek an appointment at EPU. Remember it very well, 26th November.
Turns out, there were fraternal twins. Unfortunately one baby measured at 5:2, while the other baby was 6:4, and saw the little heartbeat.
I was told that very often we lose a twin in early pregnancy, many of us don't even know we are carrying two as by the time we have the 12wk scan, the body has reabsorbed the baby who wouldn't continue developing.

If you are at all worried, please ask for a scan. I know how you feel and if reassurance is what you need - go grab it!

hi, hope I can put your mind at rest a bit! I had spotting after sex during my first trimester and panicked. I went for an early scan and all was fine Smile I'm now 17 weeks and no spotting after anymore. I'm sure everything is ok with your baby. Good luck with everything x

At least you are all getting sex. I am too scared to have sex since finding out I was pregnant lol. But I still spot after a tough bowel movement or if I get ill and cough too much!! Lol fun times for me!!

Yea, i just don't feel sexy at the moment either all the little twinges and excess CM is just making me feel bleugh, luckily my DP is the loveliest person in the world and isn't bothered about sex as he knows it will make me worry unnecessarily if i bleed afterwards!

I had my scan (not internally, normal abdominal!) this morning and all was fine! :) I even saw the little heartbeat which was amazing! I am also not as far along as I thought. 5 wks 6 days not 6 wks 4 days! Thank you all for your kind and reassuring words!

I had bleeding at 10 weeks, I called me and the first this she asked was if I'd had sex in last 2 days. Seems very common. I'd wait a few days, see if you have any more bleeding. xx
