Sharp pain in bump

Last night I had a constant sharp pain all over the front of my bump which lasted for about 10 mins. Had it again this morning while walking the dog. Coupled with low back pain! Urgh.

Does this sound normal, I'm thinking it's a new realm of muscle/ligament stretching? Not early labour or something? :-s

I'm only 21 weeks!!

Round ligament pain used to bring me to my knees, it's horrendous. I ended up getting a support belt.

As always though if you're worried then give the hospital a ring to be reassured.

I've just googled and I'm not sure it's round ligament pain, as it's nothing to do with my groin/pelvis - it's just down my front, from above belly button down to bottom of bump. But my scan is on Monday so I'm sure I can wait until then! Just not felt the baby much today either so a bit worried. But I do have an anterior placenta so maybe that's why!

I've been getting the same regularly, I was also told round ligament pain but like you it's never that low down, I find if I can sit down and take the weight off a bit it does ease off.

It tends to come on if I've been on my feet a bit, work is horrible as I stand all day so have taken to trying to put one foot on a stool to support it, I don't know if a pregnancy support belt would help?
I put a post on here a few weeks ago asking for advice but didn't get any replies and now at almost 32 weeks it seems a waste of money for a short time.

I'm assuming, like you, that it's some kind of stretching. (I also have an anterior placenta but have never heard that it's the cause of any different pain)

Well your muscles separate down the front as your bump grows so I could understand.

But please please don't sit and worry.. don't hesitate to ring the hospital if you're stressing.

Hi Op I dont mean to worry you but in my 1st pregnancy I kept getting a sharp pain in one area of my bump I could hardly walk . I went to get checked out and I had extra fluid and a dopler to check placenta blood flow . Anyway I had placenta failure (infarcted) . Yours maybe perfectly fine but I would definatley get checked out . Take care x

Oh no rubyboo how scary hope everything worked out!! It is really difficult to differentiate the different pains, i have had period like pains since i was about 10-12 weeks pregnant, so i just assume it is round ligament pain. I get it every single day when i stand up too fast, or when my bladder is really full and heavy or if i sneeze too hard. It is hard to know when everything is fine vs if there is something wrong! :S

Hi LEANNE963 Thankfully all turned out well but shear luck really as they didnt diaignose placenta infarcted until delivery ! Even though I had a dopler and they spotted extra fluid !
I felt daft going in and hesitated but thats why now I would always get a niggle checked . Anyway that was 12yrs ago and now 34+ wks with #3 Smile
Take care x
