LLETZ pregnancy

Hi this is my first post.
This is my first pregnancy, I am 17 weeks. I had the LLETZ procedure due to CIN 3 results from my smear test earlier in thru year. When having the procedure I wasn't told about any complications with pregnancy. After going for a consultant appointment today at 17 weeks he informed me that it can cause problems due to the shortening or the cervix??
I am worried about delivering early.
Anyone else had the LLETZ?
Can I get my cervix length measured?
Any advice, comments welcome,
Thanks

Hi there ive had several treatments for CIN3 cells 7yrs ago. Like you nobody told me there could be complications.
I've had an internal scan at 16 and 22 weeks to measure my cervix length. They don't tend to measure your cervix unless you've had 2/3 treatments. I also have unrelated complications too.
My cervix was measured at 3cm which is classed as within normal range.
I've since had a bad UTI which made me contract and now since 26 weeks I've been at 1cm. I have carried on as normal and am still here at 35 weeks tomorrow.
Like you I panicked that baby would come early or I'd be put on bed rest.
If your concerned then ask for an internal but I would try not to worry too much.
Good luck with everything

ask them to check it for you, I have an appointment in three weeks to check the length of mine, I met with the consultant before christmas about something else and then got a letter through to have my cervix checked, so it sounds routine where I am. was 18 weeks when the appointment came through and will be 22 weeks at the appointment. If too short they said they put a stitch in it

Thanks I'm going to speak to my midwife. How is it measured?

They measure it using an internal scan. It's painless. The probe goes into you vagina a few centimetres and they measure the length the same way they would measure the babies head etc.

Hi Abbie. I had a lletz in may 2013 and nothing was said to me about future pregnancies either.
At my booking in this time, my MW referred me to a consultant. He checked my notes from when I had the lletz, and it said that 14mm was removed from my cervix. Apparently this is quite a large proportion so I was booked for an internal scan.

I had the scan just before Xmas and my cervix is measuring 3.4cm. They are looking for it to be 2.5cm or longer so all ok.

I would definitely recommend speaking to your midwife, just for reassurance more than anything.

Feel free to join us on the June antenatal group (if you haven't already :))
