There is so much conflicting info on taking it! What are people's experiences of taking it in the third tri and did u consult ur mw? When I told my mw some ppl had been advised not to take it she honestly looked at me like I was crazy!!

I took capsules after 36wks-I went one week over with both DC. I had the most amazing births..no pain relief what so ever. V quick. 1st labour just over six hours from first signs to holding dd in my arms. 2nd labour-at home. 2.5 hours from start to finish. A bit too quick tbh. I couldn't hold ds at first as I was too shaky!!
Obvs I can't say if the raspberry leaf tea helped at all, but didn't seem to do me any harm.

I drank the tea with Dc1 and had a wonderful birth, had to be induced but it seemed easy (4hrs).

I did not drink the tea with Dc2 and it was hellish (40ish hrs)

If there were another one I would drink the tea.

Drank the tea as advised by midwife and doula SIL. Birth was quite long and ended in tearing and a ventouse. 29 weeks now and haven't started to drink it yet, but may as well, what's to lose? Plus, I like the taste.

I was advised not to take raspberry leaf with my second as my first labour had been so quick but that's the only negative advice I've heard. Apparently it speeds things up.

I took the capsules from 36 weeks with dc1. 8 days over due and crappy 52 hour labour.

I didn't take any tea or capsules with dc2. Excellent birth and 1 hour 54 minutes from beginning to end!

To add, strangely it was a good labour. I was knackered yet had no pain relief and healed very quickly.

Drank the tea for the last 3 weeks.

Had absolutely no effect.

Can I butt in and ask how much tea you all drank?

I am 34+5 and started it this week, averaging about two cups a day. Is that enough or do you need to really mainline it?

I've been drinking one a day for ten days or so (40+1 with first) - the MW said it would make contractions more effective.

I had three cups of tea a day when I drank it.

Took the capsules from 36 weeks. Had a hard labour - ventouse.

However the baby was back to back, and there's nothing the capsules could have done about that! Maybe if he was face down they might have worked.

Forgot to add though, my contractions were hard and only 5 mins apart right from my waters breaking. Possibly that was the tea but who knows?

If so, I'm not taking it again. You don't have enough time in between to get your bearings.

My mw said:

1 cup a day from 34 weeks
2 cups from 35
3 cups from 36
4 cups from 37 onwards

So that's what I've been doing. 1st baby so will see if it has any effect!

I drank the tea with my last and had a very good labour. I don't particularly think it had anything to do with the tea though. Having said that i'm 40 weeks and drinking it again this time but i actually really enjoy the taste so it's no hardship!

Can I sidle In hear and ask what does it do? I've never heard of anyone taking raspberry tea for child birth? I thought it was for heart burn Blush Do you just get the bog standard tea bags? I feel so enlightened!

It's got lots of benefits, some research suggests it makes the 2nd (I think) phase of labour easier, tones the uterus, also something to do with ur milk coming in a reducing blood loss after birth.

It is a uterine tonic, meant to make your pushing stage more effective.

I drank/drink it anyway. I pushed for 8hrs with dc1 and then had a whole host of interventions and emcs. Second time round, same thing only had the emcs before reaching 10cm. A nice tea can't help my dodgy pelvis sadly.

There's no harm in it and the tea's nice.

No pain relief with either of mine. Took RLT for both. With DS2 whole labour was about 3 hours and stage 2 was recorded as 1 minute. Gave birth on my hands and knees, there was one almighty contraction and he flew out!
