Third pregnancy after miscarriage

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place but is my first time posting here. I'm just looking for some support from anyone who may have been in a similar situation. Am 38, no kids and have been pregnant three times in the last 10 months, with the first two ending in miscarriage. I'm now 5 weeks and all my symptoms have disappeared - sore boobs, stuff nose etc have all gone. I am desperately worried as the same thing happened with my miscarriagrs. I honestly feel like I am falling apart with the worry.

My symptoms also vanished around 4 weeks, I'm now 6 and the last two days they are back with a vengeance. Try not to worry too much. Good luck with everything xx

Hi Swanny84 - thanks for the post. That's really comforting to hear. Really hoping mine come back too - for the first time in my life I am wishing I was throwing up! Good luck to you too. x

Hi Swanny,

so sorry to hear about your previous miscarriages. I misscarried at 13 weeks earlier in the year, and I had been quite sickness free with that pregnancy. I'm now 33 weeks into my 3rd pregnancy all healthy and looking good so far), and I didnt get sickness until 8 weeks (then plenty until 14 weeks!). At 5 weeks i was pretty symptom free and wasn't feeling any different to normal at all.
Good luck to you. I know its hard with all the waiting and not knowing. I had an early private scan at 8 weeks this time which really helped reassure me as waiting until 12 weeks seemed like an eternity! you could consider something similar?

I was symptom free until about 7 weeks with all mine. Fingers crossed for a healthy pregnancy for you.

I have been symptomless with my successful pregnancies (2 successful, 4 losses)

Hope all is OK for you.

Thank you ladies. I have managed to get the doctors to agree to check my hcg levels now and in 48 hours. Does anyone know if the levels are not where they should be whether this will be enough to confirm a mc or would I then need a scan. Panicking that we are coming up to Christmas and I might be having a mc with 10 relatives staying with us! If it is a mc would therefore prefer an erpc as soon as possible :-(

I only had early symptoms with my twin pregnancy - all the others I've been 6w+ by the time I've felt rough.

HCG levels should be roughly doubling at this stage, but it's only conclusive if they are falling.

Try not to stress too much, all may still be ok.

Thanks ChatEnOeuf - in my previous two pregnancies I think the symptoms did kick in slightly later. I'm just worried that I had sore boobs and now they aren't sore at all. Keep hoping it's maybe because they have already grown in the previous pregnancies so are more used to it?!

Hi Sunandrainbow I could've written your post myself. I'm 38 with no kids and currently on my 3rd pregnancy this year after having 2 x mc's. I'm 5+5 so practically same dates as you.

Have you requested a scan? I have and because I've had 2 miscarriages already and no dc yet it was a yes from my hospital. That is the only way to set your mind at rest.

My symptoms come and go and I panic when they do!! But now they've come back.

Try and stay calm and see if you can get a scan.

Fingers crossed for you!

Hey Brummiegirl - it is nice to hear that there are other people in similar situations although not great that you too have had to go through 2 miscarriages too. When is your scan? Best of luck! Symptoms have been completely gone for two days now so think I am quite resigned to it being another mc when I get my bloods back next week. A little part of my still desperately thinks it could be ok though :-( Fingers crossed for you too! x

It's an awful worrying time early pregnancy but if your not in pain or bleeding please don't worry (I'm a worrier too) we've paid £99 for a reassurance scan next sat when I'll be at least 7 weeks, to try relax me a bit. Try ask for scan on nhs and if all fails, can always try get private scan. Be the only thing to settle your worries I think (if your like me anyway) xxx

Oh good luck on Saturday Swanny - will keep fingers crossed for you. I have managed to get a scan a week on Friday when I will be 6+3. I know it's quite early but that was the only date they had before January and I don't think I can make it through xmas without knowing one way or the other! Fingers crossed for you that everything looks good on the scan. x

Quick update - got results of 5+1 hcg blood tests back today - 11,000. I do have quite short cycles and think I ovulated day 12, so could be a couple of days ahead of LMP but this still seems way too high based on my internet googling. Notes said it was 'ok' but nurse didn't know anything more than that :-( Have to wait till Monday now for today's results to see if has doubled. Not holding out much hope :-( x

It's next week hun but thank you :) I think 11,000 sounds ok but I'm no expert. It differs hugely. At what they said was 4 weeks my bloods were 689 I think but when I googled it some people had results in the 1000s but aslong as they double its fine xx

ChatEnOeuf · 12/12/2014 15:36

11,000 is pretty good for 5+ weeks. See what the next ones are - hopefully going in the right direction.

Hi ladies, just thought I would update. Have bloods back - only went up from 11042 at 5+1 to 14462 at 5+3 so only a 30% increase instead of doubling. Am absolutely devastated at the thought of yet another miscarriage. Really not sure what's next for us. X

Thanks Swanny. GP really annoyed me - when I phoned for the results I was told they were fine - no further action required. It was only when I asked for the levels that I realised something was wrong!
