Hi.
Following a mmc & erpc, is it possible to have a period and ovulate, but to still test positive for the miscarried pregnancy rather than a new one?

and can you assume that the old pregnancy hormones have left your body if your bbt returns to normal (low up to ovulation, raised afterwards) and you have.

I have just miscarried a second time, but am wondering if maybe I wasn't pregnant but still testing positive from the previous pregnancy since a scan yesterday showed an empty uterus. Also I tested positive for pregnancy 1 week before my last period (the one following the erpc) so I didn't actually get a negative test in between the last miscarriage and this one.

However I definitely ovulated (EWCM present, negative opks, followed by positive, then back to negative), and my BBT pattern was exactly as it should be - so my cycle seemed to be behaving as normal. But then the scan showed nothing (just a shadow of what might be a pregnancy or blood in the uterus), so could it be it wasn't a new pregnancy? Or a pregnancy that failed very early? I didn't doubt for a minute I was pregnant until yesterday, when the bleeding started (light) and I had the scan.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

You wont have ovulated until the HcG was out of your system.

After my first MC I had an ERPC (13 weeks) and my period arrived 27 days later, because everything was gone and the hormone was no longer present in my system.

After my second MC (6 weeks) it took 6 weeks for my period to arrive. I didn't ovulate until 4 weeks afterwards, because it was a natural MC and the hormone took longer to go away.

My third MC failed very early (5 weeks) and when I was scanned I had already lost everything. My AF arrived 2 days late.

I'm very sorry. It's not possible for you to ovulate and have a period when you still have HCG in your system. x

Ok right - that's what I thought but the sonographer introduced a flicker of doubt and I find it difficult to get my head round the idea that I might not have been pregnant when I thought I was.
Sorry for your mcs too.

If it's any hope at all for you, I am now almost 30 weeks pregnant and so far all has been well. I hope you are looking after yourself. It never goes away but it does get easier to cope with. Flowers

Malted on your 3rd 5 week miscarriage when you say you had lost everything by the scan, did you bleed much? Although I would be 7 weeks the scan showed pretty much nothing (a vague shadow) so must have at ended 4-5 weeks and I am hardly bleeding at all and no pain. Is there more to come, do you reckon? Sorry for the TMI question...

I had this Confused

It ended up being retained tissue and I needed another ERPC. It happened twice. Have they done blood tests to rule out molar or partial molar?

Allisgood I had a blood test yesterday, which showed low HCG, and have another tomorrow so will get a bit more info from that
