Has anyone else leading up to their 12 week scan felt as though there is nothing in there?!!
I do feel pregnant in a way (boobs hurt and have had sickness) but my tummy looks no different and I just can't imagine coming out of the scan with one of those pictures showing a proper baby! So worried I'm going to go there and there be nothing there!
Has anyone else felt this way leading up to the 12 week scan.? What was your outcome?
My scan is on the 16th dec and I'm so nervous I feel sick just thinking about it!

I felt the same with my last pregnancy. I remember being so pleased when I saw the scan as it proved it wasn't all in my head. DS is now 3 and I'm 5+3 with DC2 and have the same nagging worries.

Oh good! Glad I'm not the only one! Just doesn't feel real that there is a little baby inside me and by looking at me, no one would know! I've nearly caved and gone and paid for a private scan but managed not to! Do they tell you straight away if everything is ok? I had a mmc back in march and the sonographer was quiet for what seemed like ages before telling me no heartbeat! I think I'm going to be too scared to look at the screen!!

finding this is exactly how I felt! My stomach looked the same until about 16weeks and even then you'd need to strain to look. Like you before 12 weeks I had nausea and tiredness (no change to boobs which worried me as I'm to heavy so expected something there). Anyway, I'm 25+3 now!

I didn't think it would get easier but when I started the feeling the little guy it got MUCH easier.

Try not to worry ... But at the same time the worry you're feeling is totally normal. Good luck on 16th!

Ah thankyou! I can't wait to get to the stage where I can feel baby move inside me, can imagine it must be very reassuring :)
I can't wait to just get to the scan and know for sure whats going on in there! Then the other part of me is dreading going as if there is something wrong then I will have to face reality argh! How do people do this more than once !! Haha! I'm a nervous wreck!

It's called scanxiety and I had it bad! When I first got on the bed she told me to look at a monitor at the end of the bed but I refused to turn my head around until she'd made satisfying noises and confirmed there was an alive baby in there! I had very little symptoms other than tears and tiredness.

Sadly being on conception and pg threads makes you more aware of awful and deviating unfair things that can happen to lovely people but try to remember the odds of a problem are still actually very very low!

Listen to me, as if I'm all cool and calm about my 20wk scan on the 22nd.

Congrats and thinking of you

I felt nervous at my 12 week scan for very similar reasons - two previous miscarriages, at the most recent of which the sonograpger was silent for ages before giving me bad news. So when the sonograpger at the most recent didn't say anything for a while I was convinced it was happening again. Luckily everything was in fact fine, and she seemed a bit surprised I wasn't looking at the monitor myself! I would suggest you tell them you're nervous when you go in and ask them to talk you through what they're seeing.

Ah thankyou! Oh don't-- the silence is awful!!! That's what I am dreading! I will prob have my eyes closed and ears covered with my hands ill be so nervous! I need the 16th to hurryup so I can face whatever it is that's thrown at me!
Thankyou all for being so understanding!
It definitely is Scanxiety!

I felt the same. I got really quite emotional seeing it on the screen and the thing that really got me was it having hands (I actually nearly squeaked out loud, "oh it has hands!"). For some reason I really didn't expect it!

I'm only 17 weeks now but I did get to hear the heartbeat this week at my midwife appt, which was lovely. It's all so exciting Smile

It was really just because they moved, not like it was waving, but more just the fact that they looked like little flippers almost! My DH pointed out too that you don't expect them to be so wriggly, like you see other people's pictures and just assume they'll be still in that position. We had to show our people the pictures upside down because the baby was stubborn haha.

Good luck! Smile
