was this the babys head engaging?

Last night I woke up and I had severe period like pain. It was awful. I thought it was because I needed a wee but it wasn't. After an hour or so I fell back asleep but kept being woken up in agony. In the end I stuffed two pillows between my legs and it eased off a bit then.

Was this the baby's head engaging? I feel alright this morning just a bit tender. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow

Although I'm in early pregnancy and never experienced this before, my advice to you would still be to phone your midwife for some reassurance any time you are in severe pain. It should be checked out for sure and only your midwife/someone trained to feel the baby's position will know for sure.

Period like pain was labour for me. You might have been getting contractions... Talk to your MW. Just in case.

I never had any pains when my 2 were engaging. Could it be braxton hicks? Or maybe early labour pains? Could just be cramp if baby was laid funny. Keep an eye on baby's movements and if you keep getting pains that wake you up id mention it to midwife for her to check. Good luck with everything xx
