I'm dying for some dry roasted peanuts, and have heard conflicting advice re whether or not to eat peanuts when pregnant.

I'm 33 weeks (whether that makes any difference)!

Yes you can. Evidence is that if you avoid all nuts your child is more likely to have a nut allergy. I've been eating snickers bars regularly. Yum.

from nhs:

Peanuts are safe in pregnancy

Go ahead and eat peanuts or food containing peanuts (such as peanut butter) during pregnancy, unless you are allergic to them or a health professional advises you not to.

You may have heard peanuts should be avoided during pregnancy. This is because the government previously advised women to avoid eating peanuts if there was a history of allergy (such as asthma, eczema, hay fever andfood allergy) in their child's immediate family.

This advice has now been changed because the latest research has shown no clear evidence eating peanuts during pregnancy affects the chances of your baby developing a peanut allergy.

I avoided peanuts completely in my first pregnancy, as was advised to by my gp and midwife, my DD ended up with a peanut allergy!

In this pregnancy I do eat them every now and then, only when away from DD though, as we don't have them in the house for obvious reasons.

When I thought I'd miscarried DD I ate a huge packet of M&M's while I waited for the scan to confirm the miscarriage. Imagine my Shock when she had a little heart beat! How guilty did I feel for eating the M&Ms?! She has no allergies at all, apart from Hay fever (which started when she was 7yo) But I very much doubt that packet of M&Ms is responsible.

Advice changed. I was told not to eat peanuts in my first pregnancy in 2008 and by 2011 it was ok again. Now pregnant again and made snickers cookies yesterday. Divine!!
