Hi all
I'm a larger lady already and am interested to find out what sort of weight gain you ladies have had?
Im trying to eat very sensible and really take care of myself as I'd like to not balloon to much but even with all this is already gained some weight. I an only 6 weeks so it could be water smile

I am overweight to start and haven't actually gained any weight but that's unusual. Having said that, if you are overweight guidelines sugges that you should gain less overall. There's not a lot you can do but try to eat as healthily as possible and avoid daily cake breaks. Good luck.

I'm 19 weeks and have put on 5lb so far. I lost a little bit in the first month or two and then have noticeably started putting it on in the last few weeks. Normal weight pre-pregnancy.

I'm 37 weeks and have put on two stone. By twenty weeks I had put on just over a stone. This is my third pregnancy, with ds 2 I put on a lot more weight than this (he was a big baby). I think this one is going to be a more average size.

laurenamium Tue 25-Nov-14 08:07:36

I'm 18 weeks and I've put on 2 pounds, my bmi was 28 to start though so I had some of my own fat to use up first!

Hellohellohowareyou Tue 25-Nov-14 08:09:01

Im 8 weeks and I've lost 9lbs due to hyperemesis, I was/am overweight anyway

Burmama Tue 25-Nov-14 08:15:29

30 weeks and have put on two and a half stone. Starting BMI was 18.9

j200 Tue 25-Nov-14 08:21:50

34 weeks and two stone gained so far, starting BMI of 22, some of it is definitely due to increased cake consumption wink

I'm 30+5 and I've put on 1st 4lbs. I wasn't over weight to start with and this is my 4th baby.

26wk & currently about 20lb lighter than when I fell pregnant. I had a bmi of 30 to start off with so I could afford to loose some, I think the lack of wine has contributed a lot to the weight loss I'm probably a lot healthier now than conception

Thanks ladies. I'm really trying to maintain my weight as long as I possibly can. I'm also trying to increase my fluids so I can get rid of my excess fluid retention. Love hearing all your stories. x

I lost almost 2 stone to start with due to hyperemsis. I've now put on 10lbs. Still not back up to my pre pregnancy weight at 16 weeks.

Edenviolet Tue 25-Nov-14 09:37:01

With all four of my pregnancies I put on a LOT of weight. Started off with each dc between9-9.5 stone, lost some weight initially due to HG but by the time I gave birth had put on approx 3-4 stone !

bananapuddles Tue 25-Nov-14 09:39:33

I am about 20lbs lighter than before I knew I was pregnant (16+4) due to a combination of being too nauseous to eat and not drinking cocktails all the time.

kalidasa Tue 25-Nov-14 09:53:40

I am 31 weeks tomorrow and I am just under a stone heavier than my starting weight. My starting BMI was normal (22 or 23). I am measuring a bit small though and I think I should have put on a bit more really. I lost a huge amount of weight in the first trimester (severe HG) so it took me a long time just to get back to where I started, if you see what I mean.

TinyMonkey Tue 25-Nov-14 09:55:31

I had a BMI of 40 when booked in. I'm 38 weeks and have put on a stone since then. I had managed to gain half a stone in the first tri before booking in though, due to only being able to stomach carbs, and not having the energy for my usual cycle commute. So 1.5 stone in total. My weight hasn't increased at all since about 28/30 weeks due to being diagnosed with GD and so cutting out all the crap. Silver linings!

Hoping that after my c-section next week I'll actually be almost back at pre-pregnancy weight.

shinyhappyone Tue 25-Nov-14 13:00:02

It's reassuring to see so much variation on here. I started with a bmi of 23 and haven't put on any weight yet (I'm 16 weeks). Was a bit concerned but now I've seen how different everyone is, I feel reassured! xx

dietcokeisgreat Tue 25-Nov-14 14:14:08

Disappointingly, at 11wks i am about 2-3kg up. Feeling rather greedy! Some nausea which i am getting rid of by eating. Last time i gained about 14kg overall but none til 2nd trimester.

nottheOP Tue 25-Nov-14 14:15:40

I put on about 25lbs. I was at a BMI of 25 to begin with. I lost it all by 3 weeks PP. A lot of it was water weight.

nottheOP Tue 25-Nov-14 14:16:32

Just to add, I had only put on 4 lbs at 20 weeks so I was pretty much a pound a week from 16 weeks til the end.

JaxPat Tue 25-Nov-14 15:10:58

Im 38 weeks and have put on 11ib but think a lot is baby and water. I did loose about 4ib to start with due to lack of appetite in the early weeks.

29 weeks and I have put on 17lb. Similarly to nottheOP, I didn't gain a lot to start with but am now gaining pretty much a 1lb a week. I think a lot of that is to do with my sweet cravings! My BMI was also 25 so it would be great to also lose it all 3 weeks PP like you!
I thought I would lose more at the beginning of the pregnancy after cutting out alcohol as it had been quite a boozy few months but sadly that was not to be! At least I can enjoy a guilt free glass of wine or two once baby is out!
