30 weeks - anyone had a 4D scan? Was it worth it?

I'm thinking if getting a 4D scan, which costs one hundred pounds and you get stills and a DVD. I've been in so much pain with pgp and now dislocated ribs that I thought it might perk me up while I'm feeling quite down.

If you've had one what did you see and was it worth it?

I had one at 32 weeks with dd1. Could see her sucking thumb and holding onto umbilical cord. Could also see she had a lot of hair. It was quite fun, but I had it free via friend ofa friend. Did not have one for dd2.

I'm glad to hear you still saw lots at 32 weeks. The scan place I'm looking at says best images are at 28 weeks. I'm amazed you could see hair! Wow :-)

I had one at 33 weeks, could see she had chubby cheeks and she was opening/closing her mouth. Also held onto umbilical cord. She decided to wiggle down into my pelvis (head engaged) towards the end, so you could only see her nose and lips. I loved it, I think it makes it more real, although I know she's inside me, I still think it's like a dream. I didn't get a did though, just a photo.

No experience (I'm only 27 weeks) but one thing I'd check was that you wouldn't be in more pain during the scan. When I had my 20 week scan they really pressed in hard and it was quite uncomfortable.

I got one at 29 weeks - was sceptical because I think the images often look quite weird, but now I'm so glad I got it. Taking me through the last 10 weeks or so picturing his/her little face! Worth the money and not uncomfortable at all. We also took my MIL as it was her birthday, and she was soooo moved.

I've booked it for Saturday now and I can't wait. I think it would be great for my husband to see the little girl moving about and I'd like to as well. I see her moving and its a bit freaky so to see what she looks like inside would be fabulous. It would help make all the pain I'm in seem much more worth it too

I had one last week and post after it as two things happened that I wasn't prepared for:

  1. When the 4D images are loading, the baby can look quite deformed eg a face with a huge hole in the skull or hands with no fingers. They were unsettling images to see but maybe if I'd known beforehand it would have been ok so be warned!

  1. I accidentally found out the gender which I really didn't want to know! The woman scsnning me was great but at one point baby moved suddenly and I defo saw boy parts! I'm still upset that I know but nothing I can do now. Would make me think twice about a 4D scan though if you defo don't wsnt to know.

Having said that they are amazing, my mum came & she loved it. We could see eyelashes at one point. I have some great pics of his face which I love looking at now. My baby was asleep with his hand covering his face & cord across his eyes so I went off and had a hot chocolate and came back and got great shots so defo have something sweet and s drink beforehand to make sure baby is awake!
