Pregnancy

thin "watery" bleed at 7weeks

I'm 7wk 4d and had a scan at EPU yesterday (because of previous mcs) showing a baby measuring the right size and with a strong heartbeat.

I am on progesterone pessaries 200mg twice a day.

This morning on the way to work I felt 3-4 big gushes and like i was soaking my pad. I was panicking that i was bleeding heavily so I did a U-turn and went home and found that I had passed a lot of watery discharge with pink blood mixed in.

Since then I have had pink spotting on the toilet paper when i wipe but no more gushes and no blood on my sanitary pad. I do have some heaviness and discomfort in my lower abdomen but not really cramps.

My questions are:
1 - what causes a watery gush? Where does all this "water" come from?
2 - would it be possible to mc less than 24 hours after seeing a healthy baby/hb?
3 - can mcs start with a watery bleed - none of my previous 3 mcs have started this way.
4 - can progesterone cause bleeding? I don't think I irritated my cervix when i inserted the pessary this morning...

I have called EPU and left a message - just waiting for them to get back to me.
Thanks in advance...

Thanks for your reply sizethree.
I did hear back from EPU - they said they were not overly concerned about the bleed, given i had a good scan yesterday. I have another scan booked in for next friday so they told me just to keep that one.
I have had a bit of cramping in the last couple of hours but no more major bleeding. I don't know what to think. I am hoping against hope it is nothing and i am one of those people that just bleed in pregnancy and it means nothing, but with my past history i just fear the worst.

I was on the pessaries too due to previous MC and I had spotting twice, both after sex. It was very different to how the MCs started and I was reassured by the scans they gave me at EPU.

There is a huge increase in CM when pregnant anyway, along with the additional mess from the pessaries its quite normal to get these gushes. Or at least it was in my experience.

Remember if you are inserting pessaries 2 times a day, even if you are gentle its a lot of tooing and froing in your lady area, you may have a UTI which could explain the gushes and light bleeding.

I would keep an eye on it. If you have any more then call them again. Good luck!

Just to say, in the hope it gives you some hope, I'm now 25 weeks pregnant and baby is perfect and everything has been text book so far. I hope its the same for you. :)

Thank you SeaSaltMill. It is reassuring to know that gushes can be normal. Slightly alarming though when it happens.

I don't feel like i have a uti, but will keep it in mind, and i haven't really had much in the way of cm so far in this pregnancy, so don't think it is that.

Like you this is nothing like how my previous mcs started, which gives me a glimmer of hope. I always thought being on progesterone would delay or mask any miscarriage - which means if i saw a healthy pregnancy yesterday, it surely can't be miscarrying today, can it? The midwife i spoke to today said progesterone didn't mask mc tho...
