Is this acid reflux?

37 weeks pregnant at the moment and I've got a horrible feeling in the back of my throat
It's like a really intense burning sensation which is making me feel really sick

Any tips on how to get rid of it?! It's come on so suddenly I sat with a face like thunder all day at work wondering what it was ! I thought the dreaded morning sickness was making a return!

Yes, it's acid reflux.
Rennies work for me most of the time, although I think you can get harder stuff if it's really bad.

Yes it sounds like it. Gaviscon advanced does the trick for me. Usually a dessertspoon, sometimes two.

I would say its your average heartburn. IME acid reflux is very severe and often goes hand in hand with excessive sickness.

Renée were my saviour when I was in my 3rd trimester. I would crunch my way through a full pack within a day or two.

Try to avoid acidic foods and drink. Citrus fruits in particular should be a big no-no if you are suffering with heartburn or acid reflux.

I take ranitidine as can't stomach gaviscon or Rennie.

I've been on omeprazole since last Wednesday and it's worked a treat.

Agree with jelly. If this is the first time you've had it it's probably just heartburn. I second trying the Rennies, or Gaviscon, or a glass of milk if you don't have any indigestion tablets to hand. I have acid reflux and it is very unpleasant, it makes you feel like your chest is tight and the only slight relief is generally after a good burp! (nice)

Sounds like it might be. Milk is good, as are liquid antacids like gaviscon, for soothing the horrible burning sensation. Eating greasy, rich or spicy foods can bring it on so best to avoid those if you can. If you find it bothers you at night, you may need to sleep more propped upright. If it gets really bad, a proton pump inhibitor like Ranitidine will stop your stomach producing so much acid. Totally pregnancy safe to take.

Just ring your doctors reception, most will prescribe you a big bottle of gaviscon that you can glug down at your pleasure. It costs a bomb otherwise!

I had really bad acid reflux prior to pregnancy, now I literally have a panic attack if I don't leave the house with rennies, so horrible, can really ruin your day!
