Is anyone on this? if so can you just give me reassurance that I'm not a terrible person for taking this whilst pregnant. Sounds ridiculous huh? My first pregnancy my husband basically had to force me to take one paracetamol after the flu jab (didn't react great to it) because I worry so much about anything I put in my body will hurt the baby :( over the top I know but I'm really irrational right now! I was given anti sickness drugs and had some because I've been feeling so bad but they don't help and I'm pretty sure the sickness feeling is more down to indigestion, acid reflux. I tried gaviscon last night (again reluctantly!) and oh my word it's evil in a bottle. Seriously I took one spoon then it took me 10 minutes to brave the next. Horrible stuff. Have any of you had omepazole in previous pregnancies and have a perfectly happy healthy baby???

I started taking this last Wednesday and oh my god it has stopped absolutely every bit of heartburn / reflux. I wish I'd asked for it weeks ago (currently 34+2)
This was prescribed by a doctor and vetted by my partner (who is a doctor too).
I think the risk to my baby's wellbeing caused by me not sleeping, vomiting most days, feeling like rubbish etc. is greater than the risk of taking the drug. Just my opinion of course :)

Yes I took it in both pregnancies, it's perfectly fine.

I took it throughout my last pregnancy and am again this time as it protects my stomach from the NSAIDs I also take. I'm also on steroids & various other things. I worried about all the drugs first time round despite being assured they were ok in pregnancy (I have to stop NSAID at 32wks) since DS was born healthy and is a very healthy 6yo I feel much more confident about them this time round.
Being ill/poorly doesn't help your growing baby, your body is already trying to do so much if taking a drug which docs say is fine relieves that physical stress I think it's a good thing.

I've been taking it daily since 22 weeks. Now 35 weeks and collecting another prescription for it tonight. I actually wouldn't be without it - I suffered for 3 weeks, just relying on gaviscon before I spoke to the doctor. I didn't know you could take it in pregnancy and I was so relieved when he gave me the prescription that I cried down the phone at him whilst telling him he was a lovely man Grin

Honestly, take it - there is no point suffering when you don't have to Smile

Thank you all so much (I actually want to cry!!) These past few weeks have been awful. Really praying they do the job and I can start to feel normal again. Can't wait to get to the enjoyable bit of pregnancy!

Quick question - is there a better time to take them? I had mine this morning but anyone found they work better afternoon evening or does it not make much difference?

Hi Happy Ive taken anti sickness meds in a previous pregnancy was was fine.
I have a Hiatus Hernia and usually take Lansoprazole but the dr changed it to omeprazole as it is safe to take in pregnancy . Ive been taking it since the start and have had no issues from taking it .
Take care
