8+3 would be due on, spotting turned to blood

Hi

Just looking for some reassurance i am 8+3 today and since friday i have had light brown spotting which has turned to red blood overnight when wiping. There isn't alot but enough to be sure it is blood. I would have been due to start my period friday had a not been pregnant.

Has anyone else has this? I am not in any pain btw. I spoke to the epu yesterday who advised rest and said it could be normal and all the info i've found when googling suggests it is but i'm still petrified.

Any reassurance greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It could in be implantation bleeding and at such early stages the EPU is unlikely to refer you for a scan. Keep yourself rested and calm - I had spotting with my first pregnancy and I know how worried you must be! I would

Little tip - if you complain of pains, they are likely to refer you for a scan and bloods to check your hormones Smile

All the best of luck to both of us for safe and happy pregnancies!!

If you are concerned at all then ring your GO. I have been told, however, that it is very common for women to spot around 4/8/12/16 etc weeks of pregnancy as that is when your body should have had it'd period. So try not to worry too much :)

if the bleeding gets worse then I would phone the EPU back and ask if you could have a scan. you're not too early for a scan at all.

at 8 weeks it's unlikely to be implantation bleeding but there are millions of woman who bleed a bit throughout their pregnancy and nothing if wrong.

Sorry you're going though this, I hope you're worrying for nothing! Flowers

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words. I have my booking in appointment wednesday so will have bloods done then.

It's tough knowing whether to speak to gp or epu as feel like over reacting plus as far as i'm aware there is nothing they can do.

Am i best holding off till wednesday and discussing with the midwife? Hopefully she can refer me for an early scan if this is still going on then?

I have read about bleeding coinciding with when periods r due so am trying to focus on it being that. In all honesty i spotted last time period was due and it was because i never bled properly i tested and got my bfp.

Thank you so much again it's reassuring hearing from other people .

no harm in mentioning it to your midwife even if it doesn't get worse. I have everything crossed for you Flowers

I had a bleed like you at 8 wks, midwife said it was most likely the placenta plugging in and disrupting things. good luck for wed Grin

I had a bleed a week ago, not blood red though and since then i have had an early pregnancy scan which dated me a little less than i though but good strong heart beat. I thought i was 8weeks but turned out i was between 6weeks5days and 7weeks5days. This is my 3rd pregnancy, had awful bleed at 12weeks with my first but all ok and have a healthy 3 year old, his birthday today. No bleeding with second but with this bleed i had no cramps etc so scan was just for reassurance.

Hope all ok

thank you sian. im sure its linked in with periods as has all but gone today and wasn't bad anyway tbh but being first pregnancy anything is enough to scare you. Booking appointment been re-arranged for next week too so that's a bit annoying but spoke to midwifery assistant today and she was also very reassuring. Just found out a colleague is 10 weeks +6 saw her scan today cant believe how clear it was has got me all excited again. Thanks again for everyones help.
