5 weeks pregnant, heavy bleed but no cramps?

Is all hope lost?

I'm 5 weeks pregnant, had four BFP but just started bleeding. It's heavy with clots. :(

I'm assuming the worst and it's over. Though anyone been through this and stayed pregnant?

I keep thinking of possible 'positive' (if you could call them that) scenarios, like it was twins and I have just lost one. Though I'm probably just kidding myself arnt I?

I have two children already and both trouble free pregnancies so I feel very unprepared for this as I, stupidly, assumed all would be well again.

Hi Dave, I had a heavy bleed at 6 wks, no pain accompanied it. I'm now 24 wks pregnant.
Best to get it checked out all the same.
Best of luck

Go see if you can get your hcg levels checked - it's probably too early to learn much from a scan but monitoring your hormone levels will give a good indication of what's happening. x

Thank you

Would a GP do that?

GP might, Early Pregnancy unit definitely will if you can self refer to them?

I had the same thing happen to me when pregnant with DS1. I paid for an early scan where they detected a sac but no heartbeat. A week or so later I paid for another scan where a HB was detected and went on to have a healthy pregnancy. I had very large clots indeed.

I can't remember now (it was 8 years ago) if the HCP was able to explain it and I tried not to think about the possibility that it might have even a twin. I'd had fertility treatment so there was a possibility of this.

But all was fine.

I had very similar to Llareggub with my second child. I honestly thought it was a miscarriage, but I also had it checked out and ended up with a healthy baby boy :)

Gosh maybe there is still hope then.

I can't get to EPU till Monday (we are away at the mo) but I will go then.

And maybe get some answers, one way or the other.

No answers but my friend had a very heavy bleed in early pregnancy, she assumed she had a miscarriage and was devastated, she had a scan about 5 - 6 weeks and there was still a pregnancy, she had to go back for another scan a week later, therehad been growth, she was so shocked as she was sure she had lost the baby, she then put it down to it was twins and she lost one and one survived!, so I guess I'm saying there's still hope and don't assume the worst till u know for sure Flowers

I'm in a similar situation. Had a bleed yesterday and one today although clear in between. I'm approx 6 weeks. Spoke to GP yesterday who is referring me to EPU for a scan early next week. She said there's not much you can do if it is a miscarriage but not to give up hope as plenty of people have bleeding in otherwise healthy pregnancies.

I did have a small amount of bleeding in my first pg which resulted in DS so I do have some hope although not much since the second bleed. It's heartening to read other positive stories though.

Wishing you all the best.

You too MrsJupiter

I'm pretty sure I have miscarriage now as been bleeding for 3 days. No cramps or pain though. I would be amazed if I were still pregnant, though there are stories out there! Your situation sounds a bit more positive though due to the break you had in the bleed.

Our EPU is just drop in/no appointment needed. So I'm going in on Monday. I need confirmation either way.
