I'm due non-identical twin boys in mid February. Any other twin-mums to-be out there?

Me! I'm expecting twins at the beginning of December.
They are DCDA, we are not finding out the gender, want to keep it a surprise!

Hi, congratulations! I'm also expecting twins, they will be due in April :)

Me to! Due officially 26th Feb, but will be induced around 6th Feb. None identical twins for me. :)

Me too, currently 33 weeks with non-identical girls. Due date based on 40 weeks would be 4th December, but consultant is saying either c-section or induction in about 4 / 5 weeks time, which obvs is full-term for twins. At the moment VB looks unlikely due to babies positions.

Are you ladies basing your due dates on 40 weeks or 37 weeks?

Good luck all! Smile

Wow lots of twin mums to be! brainfidget - I would've been due 14th may if going to 40 weeks but now it'll be April sometime - I think w/c 20th should be 37 weeks.

How are you all keeping? Is this your first pregnancy?

My 40 week date is 14th Feb, but have been told that they'll induce me if I get to 38 weeks, so in all likely-hood my boys will be born in January :) scary!!!! This is my first pregnancy. Where are you all from? I'm in Inverness :)

Induction for MCDA twins booked for 5th November! Eek!!

ninja you don't have long to go now then! How far along are you?
It's my first pregnancy too, I was really nervous when I found out it's twins but someone said to me that this will just be 'normal' for us as we've never known what it's like to have just the one - it was nice and reassuring.
I'm in Dumfries and Galloway, opposite end of Scotland to you!

Me! Identical twins due 18th feb, but elcs probably end of Jan - if all goes to plan! We don't know the sex. Anyone have any other children? We have a 2 year old!

arghhelpme eeek that's so exciting! And Blooming, yours will be here soon!
I'm 23 weeks today. I know what you mean frecklebee, I guess it will be normal for us- although I think every definition of normal is about to go out the door!
How's everyone keeping? I still haven't had any sickness, but have had really bad heartburn(constant), leg cramps and pelvic pain. :)

I'm feeling surprisingly well. It's only really been this week that I don't feel like venturing too far from home, but I have a two year old to keep me entertained too. For me, the heart burn has been the most annoying side effect. Also alot of braxton hicks which frighten the life out of my DH Smile

Report
Georgie507 · 17/10/2014 11:27

Heartburn here too!Blooming, when did your braxton hicks start? I've had them about 2 weeks and am 22 weeks now, bit surprised it was so early!

I had the odd one when doing too much since about 28 weeks, but they are every day now. 2 days ago they were every half hour for a while. Not painful, but i must have been making some funny faces.

Oh, how exciting, there's lots of us!!

First pregnancy for me too. Lovely to have a spring birth Frecklebee - imagine those sunny spring walks with people cooing over your twins!

Arghhelpme and Blooming - you are both so close now, I am envious Envy Very interesting how you are having a c-section and an induction respectively. Can I ask how those decisions came to be? (as I don't yet know what mine will be).

Ruddy Braxton Hicks - I've been having them since 16 weeks!

Sympathy for those with other symptoms. Smile

I have 2 other children, age 8 and 5. All the mums of twins I know have just their set of twins as their first so I can't ask them what it's like having twins after singletons.

Am having to have a c section due to twin 1 being breech and twin 2 being transverse. Twin 1 was head down until about 30 weeks, he then decided to flip round and his bum is engaged so the hospital have advised c section is best.

FreckleBee · 17/10/2014 13:38

arghhelpme you don't have long to go now at all. I come from a 4 child family and it was the best...don't know if it was for my parents but as a sibling it was great. Ok no twins either but I'm sure you know what I mean :)
Also blooming you've only another couple of weeks to go! how exciting.

How many weeks will both of your babies be when they arrive?

I wonder how common it is for twins to have a vaginal birth, a lot I have heard of are born by section.

I won't talk about this too much as already moaned +++ on another thread about it but I've been terribly sick & nauseous since week 5 (now week 10).
Hope everyone else is keeping well x

Mine will be 37.5 weeks on d-day. Twin 1 is head down and twin 2 is transverse but keeps flipping from one side to another. My consultant said that due to my ds being born naturally at 9lbs7 i should be fine and they'll coax twin 2 into some sort of birth position when twin 1 is out of the way. I think I'll be voting for an epidural though :-/

I think that stats are about 50/50 with regards to c-section or vaginal.

If it helps, my sickness suddenly stopped at week 12 when the placenta kicked in and has been occasional and easy to cope with since then.

Report
FreckleBee · 17/10/2014 17:06

Thanks blooming that does help to hear. I didn't realise it was about 50/50 for C section or vaginal. Do you know what you are having?

Does everyone else know what gender their twins are? Dh and I are currently trying to decide whether to find out or not. When we thought baby was a singleton we weren't going to find out but on hearing the twins news we both felt we wanted to know - enough surprises and all that and to be organised. However as time goes on I'm less and less in a hurry to know. We've got plenty of time to decide though.

FreckleBee · 17/10/2014 17:07

Blooming sorry I meant do you know if you're having a boys or girls?

Report
BloomingOrBallooning · 17/10/2014 17:11

Ours are girls. Finding choosing two names very tricky!

Report
brainfidget · 17/10/2014 18:59

arghhelpme - we have exactly the same configuration here; T1 breech & T2 transverse. The consultant suggests there is still time for T1 to turn, but considering they have been in those positions the whole way through, and I'm now at 33 weeks, I don't think either of my girls are for turning Hmm. Hence probable c-section for me too.

Poor Frecklebee - sickness is horrible. Mine went at 12 weeks too. Hopefully yours will too.

Blooming - in our area all twin mothers get an epidural - in case of needing an EMCS for twin 2 - so you might find that you don't need to fight / plead for one, as some singleton mums seem to have to.

Re: knowing what the babies are - we were told that everyone who has twins finds out, mainly due to all the extra scans. But it seems that is not true from this thread. I guess we were just too curious to wait to find out.

Have a good weekend all! Smile

Hello! Smile

I'm having non-identical twin girls due 18th Feb but booked my c-section today for 5th Feb!
This will be my second set! I have five year old non-identical boys too.

I'm so excited!!! Hate being pregnant this time around though! And i got so so big the last time, i could hardly walk by the end.
Glad i'm having the girls out at 38 weeks! I went 40+2 with the boys, was the size of house, had every pain relief going, epidural only worked on one side, had a huuuuge tear, forceps and a blood transfusion afterwards.
Hoping this c-section delivery will be a better experience?!!

How are you all feeling?
I've got hip pain when i lie on either side then lower back pain when i lie on my back!!

blooming I know what you mean - it's hard enough choosing and agreeing on one name never mind 2!

Thanks brainfidget me too! Fingers tightly crossed.

Hello helkat congratulations. How lovely you have 2 boys and are now having 2 girls! Sorry to hear your first birth was so difficult, hope you have a much better experience this time around Smile
