Pregnancy

Advice please? Discharge?

Hi all

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and have had what I consider to be "normal" pregnancy discharge since the beginning really. However today when I stood up after being in the car for a while I felt really wet down below (sorry tmi). It's quite warm outside so it could be sweat but I'm really paranoid and have read stories on here about waters leaking and so on?

I was wearing a pantyliner at the time but it still felt wet and horrible enough to make me feel unclean and self-conscious whilst walking around and wondering whether anyone could see! Should I get it checked out or not? I wasn't worried until I started googling lol.

Thank you!

This happened to me a few weeks ago (I was 32 weeks at the time) I called my midwife, got sent to delivery ward, hooked up to monitors and dr did an internal to check.
Waters still intact and everything was normal.
She wrote on my notes something along the lines of "in her head" made me feel like a bit of a wally but pleased I got it checked.
If you're worried, call the midwife

Thanks for replying and I'm glad all was ok for you!

I sometimes wonder whether I'm a bit too hasty when it comes to calling the midwife but that's what they're here for I suppose. Think I'll give her a ring and see what she says. And I can't believe she wrote that on your notes! Just what you need when you're already pregnant and not thinking straight lol.

It does sound like a mix of sweat and discharge if you're not still leaking. I'd keep an eye on it and if you get nothing else then it's probably nothing.

That was the first time I had called them for anything as I get scared I'm wasting their time (stupid I know....) I did feel better after even after the dr wrote her somewhat snidey note!
I'm my defence, I've never grown a person before do don't know what's normal or not normal! Smile

That's exactly what I think too. I was a worrier before I got pregnant but now I'm responsible for a little life growing inside of me I've become slightly worse. I think it's much better to be over cautious when you're pregnant though and if everything turns out to be normal then it's just added peace of mind that the little one is perfectly fine in there Smile

I've got 5 weeks to go and he moves around less now as it's a bit squashed I guess, so every morning I give him a little poke to wake him up so I know he's ok in there. I'm going to be a paranoid mother I just know it!! My poor child Smile
Do you know what you're having?

Haha well that makes 2 of us Smile I'm having a little girl!

Not long for you now then, are you getting nervous or does it all still seem a bit surreal?

I'll be even more paranoid when the baby arrives because at least I can fully protect her while she's in there. I'll be a nervous wreck once she's out in the real world!

i constantly leaked clear fluid around 16-20 weeks so bad i almost thought it was pee there was so much of it but it wasn't and the consultant and midwife would just say yeh very normal and that was it and then it stopped think you do leak sometimes in pregnancy but if your worried tell a midwife or gp Smile

Aahhh congrats on your pink one!

It all seems a bit surreal, I know it's going to happen but I still can't imagine him actually being here, feels like we've been waiting for ever for him to make his grand entrance and to meet him Smile

I've just finished packing my hospital bags, eeekkk!

Thank you Smile congrats on your blue one!

My heart sank when you said packing hospital bags lol! I can't imagine how I'll be feeling once I'm at the stage that you're at it's so exciting.

Going to go to triage first thing tomorrow to get checked out. Doubt it will be anything but at least I'll know for certain. I've read where people have left it and a week later gone into labour because of a slow leak so I know I'll feel better once I've been seen.

Quick update!

I went to triage and got checked over. My cervix is tightly closed and waters are very much still intact thankfully - it was just watery discharge.

She said that there might be a slight infection causing the excess fluid but did a swab for everything while she was in the area which is good.

Baby is completely happy and healthy in there which is all that matters so I can stop stressing now lol Smile
