Have my waters just gone?! HELP!

How would I know if my waters had gone? I was sat in the kitchen at work and was laughing and suddenly felt like I had wee'd myself!

How would I know if it was my waters and not wee?

How far along are you?

It was obvious when mine went as it was like a water balloon had burst and it just kept coming. Mine also seemed thicker than wee if that makes sense.
If you are concerned call a midwife or labour ward as they will give you advice and if they want to they will get you in to be checked as its easy for them to tell.

If the liquid carries on coming out it'll be your waters. Hope that you have a change of clothes or someone can help tidy up the mess. If it is your waters, good luck with the labour and enjoy your new baby.

Im "only" 35 weeks so it's not impossible but definitely not wanted at this stage! Fingers crossed it was just wee.... never thought I'd see myself wishing that lol. Sadly, I'm at work, so I've managed to tidy myself and the chair up but bit embarrassing to tell anyone lol. It probably seemed far more than it actually was as I was sat on a hard chair and when i stood up, there was no liquid on my chair. I did notice an odour when I went and sorted myself in the bathroom which isn't usual....

Put on an unscented maternity pad and keep an eye out if there is any more.

It's most likely just a bit of wee - when your waters 'go' there is tons of liquid and it just keeps coming for ages.

But there is a chance that baby could have put a tiny year in the sac and if it's near the top, the sac can stay intact and you just lose a little bit of fluid now and again depending on how you are moving about.

So use the pad to check and check smell and colour. Waters smell sweet ish not at all like wee.

Any concerns though ring your midwife or delivery unit as if they are leaking, they'll probably want you to deliver within a certain timeframe to prevent risk of infection creeping in.

If you can hold it in its not bot your waters. When mine went it was little bits at a time and I couldn't hold it in no matter how hard I tried.

Agree with what everyone as said you should put pad on and check and go and get checked out if you are at all concerned, but I'm inclined to think its wee were you laughing a lot? I've laughed and wee'd when I was heavily pregnant last time I really did pml!! Grin

I leaked a small amount of what I thought was urine towards the end of my last pregnsncy. Just a trickle as I sat up to get out of bed. Nothing further before my routine midwife appointment that lunchtime. My midwife sent me straight to the hospital, who got me walking around with a pad in my knickers to monitor. As the pad had a little more fluid soaked in when they checked (by now about 4pm) I was sent home and asked to return for induction the next morning but I actually started losing my waters again at midnight and delivered naturally the next day.
The baby is at risk of infection if waters leak more than 48 hrs prior to birth, so I woild give the maternity ward a ring. Good luck Thanks Thanks

Will I be made to feel a bit daft if it was just wee? It was when I was laughing and therefore pushing down almost if that makes sense?

[TMI ALERT]I have felt more discharge down below over the last few days and damper too. Nothing else gush wise and as yuck as it sounds, i have been to the loo and wiped - nothing other than wee on there after going to the loo and it doesnt smell sweet or anything. I have been wearing panty liners that end up with a yellowish stain in them but thats it.

With dd2 I knew my waters had gone at about 1am, so was told to come in at 1pm to be checked. Midwife told me my waters hadn't gone, and to go home. Ended up back in at 7, mw said they still hadn't gone. At 7.45 she decided to examine me, I was 9 cm. " ooh I think you're having a baby!! ". No shit Sherlock! I had her at 8.45. Different mW came in later and asked, " so when DID your waters go???"

I'd definitely ring up & go to be checked out at maternity triage. Without wishing to worry you, I woke up 4 weeks ago thinking I'd wet myself as I was only 34 weeks. 18 hours later bubba was being delivered by emcs. He's dozing happily in his bouncy chair at the moment

Have given my MW a text and will see what she says. Am sure it's just wee (how embarrasing!) but better to ask and get checked if she agrees than to not

I thought I wee'd myself at 31 weeks. DP took me to the hospital to get checked out because my back was hurting a bit and I was 9cm dialated.

It only started to really hurt when they told me. Amazing what fear can do to pain.

Go and get checked out OP.

Are you ok OP? Did you hear back from your midwife?
