4d scan... Any tips?

Hiya, we've booked a scan for when I'm 28+1. Do you have any tips on what I can do to ensure the baby wriggles about a bit more than she did on my 20 week scan? She's normally pretty active but for some reason is quite camera shy! (Like her mum!)

Hoping that if she's wriggling enough we'll be able to confirm she's definitely a girl!!

We didn't get to find out the sex at 20wk scan, was even sent for a walk up and down stairs to get 'him' moving as they couldn't get images they needed of heart, i had another nhs scan for those but also booked a private scan for the gender with sneek peek at 4d image, i was recommended cold fizzy drink and or ice cream. Went for maccy's 30 mins before and drank the drink on the way to scan and it worked for me

Drink lucozade, lots of it! About 15 mins before your appt.
At our 4d scan, baby would not move and it took 3 hours for him to move round so we could see him!
I had to have lucozade, Mars bars, do star jumps, go for a 20 min walk. It was ridiculous Grin
Good luck!

I went for a 4d scan at 31 weeks. Drank ice cold water, fizzy drinks, chocolate etc and baby did not move and was in the wrong spot so didn't get any pictures. Even after they sent me out for a walk, jog, star jumps, belly shaking etc. when I left I asked what I should do before I go in next time and she said there really isn't anything you can do to help.
Second go, asked on here what to do, people said lucozade etc, so that was my plan but got stuck in traffic and got there late so didn't have a chance to do/eat/drink anything before I went in. Baby was in a perfect position, moving about, got all the pictures we could have hoped for.
So I've decided it makes no difference!
Sorry this really doesn't help!

Is coke because it's cold and sweet? Is it the sugar rush that gets them moving? I've been avoiding caffiene completely but I guess one can might wake the baby up and not do any harm.

Good excuse to eat chocolate though!

i've been sticking to under the 200mg of caffiene as recommended, so 1 won't hurt.

I think it's cold more than sugar tbh, I'm guessing you've booked this in advance? I'm 28+1 today and he moves around alot more than he did at 20, back then he moved more after i'd eaten, maybe cause he gets food and maybe cause he has less room for a while but now it's anytime really

Yeah I'm 21 weeks and it's a bit sporadic, hopefully she'll be more wriggly at 28 weeks. Can't wait!!

I went for one on Sat, a father's day gift for DH, and had my normal branflakes and banana breakfast and a cup of tea, and baby wasn't playing! Sent out for a hot chocolate and also drank a bottle of cold mineral water and she still didn't move into the right place for a good image. They are going to give us another slot in a few weeks though, so hopefully get a good image then!
