Pregnancy

Miscarriage or still pregnant?

Hi,
I'm hoping I can get some advice/ reassurance.. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and have been spotting for the last 2 weeks, 2 days ago the bleeding became heavy and I felt 2 large clots fall out (sorry tmi..!) I had a scan yesterday after being referred to the EPAU by a&e, both external and internal scans showed signs of pregnancy but no baby. The midwife said its either too early to see the baby or I've lost it.. They took bloods yesterday and will again tomorrow to compare hcg levels, to find out if I am still pregnant. I just feel like I'm in limbo, I'm preparing for the worst but I can't help but hope because I still feel pregnant. I also took a pregnancy test today which showed a strong positive.

Hi there

I am going through a similar thing and am 5 weeks pregnant had terrible stabbing and cramping pains and bleeding for the last 4 days which came and went. I went to A&E yesterday and pregnancy test came back positive and internal exam said my cervix was still closed but had blood around it. Then I had an ultrasound done which didn't show any signs of a pregnancy and hgc blood levels were at 580 which they couldn't confirm anything on and so I'm back tomorrow to do more for them to compare. I'm praying for the best and preparing for the worst after all of the conflicting results I can't do anymore. How high were your hgc levels? X

Hi Lacey,
Looks like we're in the same position, although I've had no cramping or pain. My hcg levels were 740 and likewise they couldn't confirm anything. It's just really difficult not knowing.. I think for you at 5 weeks, maybe it is too early to see anything in a scan. Do you feel like you could still be pregnant? I really hope it works out for us both tomorrow. X

I'm currently 31 wks pregnant but had a m/c in November when I was 6 wks (got pregnant again immediately). Your situations sound similar to mine in that I started getting cramps, then bleeding and a few blood clots. I went to the EPU the day after it started and they confirmed on a scan that I had a sac but no baby so it looked like everything stopped around 4 wks. I should add that my hormone levels that day were already very low (can't remember number) and my symptoms had pretty much stopped. So if your hormone levels are still high enough and your symptoms still there I wouldn't lose hope just yet x

Thanks Heather, the doctor at a&e did tell me that everything looked good from my hormone levels, but the heavy bleeding and clotting happened about an hour after that..I guess all I can do is wait and see. Congrats on your pregnancy, hope everything goes well x

I too went into A&E as it happened on a Sunday and was sent home to phone EPU first thing Monday. That night was awful:( EPU were reluctant to see me at first but I managed to persuade them as I was due to be flying to London for a few days with work and I didn't want to go if I was miscarrying (obviously). Obviously it didn't end great for me with that pregnancy but I really count my blessings that it happened early enough that there were no complications and I fell pregnant again the next month (without having a period in between). Text book pregnancy so far although I was pretty nervous for first 12 wks. Hope everything goes well for you x

I have had increasing symptoms; boobs are still sore and increased feeling sick but I'm trying not to read too much into it and get my hopes up. I had another bleed this evening. Can I ask what colour blood your bleeding? I know that's an odd questions...

Its not an odd question at all Lacey, before the heavy bleed, the blood was brownish and after the heavy bleed 2 days ago, its been red light bleeding like the last couple days of a period.

Thanks everyone else for your responses. Yes I think you might be right Boogles, the fact that there was nothing on the scan at 7 weeks is what makes me think it probably won't be good news tomorrow, but until I've had it confirmed I can't help but hope..!

Oh no Lacey, try and stay positive, its a good sign that your hcg levels have doubled. Just try and take it easy for the next few weeks and get them to book you another scan soon x

Hope your feeling better after your miscarriage. I'm not really feeling anything cause I didn't really have time to get used to the idea before I started being in pain. Hope your okay xx

Really sorry to hear both of your news:-( I went through this in November and it was awful. I had a good cry and spent 3 days on the sofa feeling sorry myself and then had to get back to things. I did fall pregnant again a few weeks later so there is definitely hope! And early miscarriages are way more common than you think so unfortunately just one of those things xx

Hi ladies, I also had a mmc in December and it was awful wasn't in the Christmas spirt at all! No I can say I'm happily pregnant and got my 20 week scan on Monday, so please just have faith and remember as heather said the statistics on miscarriage is quite common upto 12 weeks. Hopefully we will be seeing you soon, good luck xx
