When are you looking to give the gift? I didn't want to celebrate until after the 20 week scan when I felt a bit more confident. At that stage - Bio Oil, chocolate, body/hand/foot cream, a fan(!)...

what a nice friend you are! maybe a pregnancy massage somewhere?

Yes I was secretly hoping someone might have got me a pregnancy massage or spa day for my birthday :-) so I think on a smaller scale some nice toiletries- echo bio oil suggestion, it's expensive for a small bottle of something so she is not likely to have bought it for herself yet. I was chuffed with anyone recognising it'd been a hard road for us and giving a card, or even just saying, you must be so pleased after waiting so long.
(Don't suppose your nickname means you come from Walton on thames? If so there is a lady at the Xcel leisure centre who does pregnancy massage!)

How about a scan photoframe? A bit like this one:

(Hope that link works - I've never posted a link)

What a lovely friend you are! Smile
Clarins do an amazing massage for pregnancy and post natal.
Creams for bump as long as they don't smell - some made me terribly sick.
What about a little something now and another something after the 20 week scan?

I am 27 weeks and have just been given some Benefit Ultra Radiance spray. Great in this warm weather, very indulgent, would never spend it on myself!!

I got SIL a box of celebrations after her dating scan and some blue dylon after her 20 week scan (she found out she was having a girl but hates pink and was worried everyone would buy her pink clothes).

Back the fan idea - I have a mini hand held one in my bag and use it regularly. Also some cooling mist spray kind of things - Am loving the warm weather but its not much fun when internal thermostat is screwed.

I also treated myself to a paddling pool for the next few months! For me not bubba but I can see on the hot days sitting in the cool water a huge benefit.

Very practical suggestion but bump bands and/or bra extenders! I didn't discover bump bands until I was about 17/18 weeks and by then had bought a couple of pairs of maternity trousers when really there was no need. Bump bands mean you can wear your normal trousers/jeans and keep them up with a band, great for the early stages when you're not quite big enough for maternity wear. Likewise bra extenders can give you bit more wear in normal bras.

I was given a little bag of treats I wouldn't have bought for myself: trial size moisturisers/creams, nice shampoo and intensive conditioner (my hair went massive and frizzy), lip gloss, some chocs... really lovely because the person who gave it had packed it themselves and obviously thought about it.

I'd love a pedicure voucher :) my feet are hard to reach and are looking very untidy at present so I'm hiding them in uncomfy closed shoes Blush

I was given a nice little frame for our first scan photo from a friend, not too expensive I think but a lovely thought as we now have it up in our room to see every day.
Another friend gave me a 'smellies' set with bubble bath, moisturiser, hand cream etc in a nice bag that I can reuse for when the baby is here. I've already finished the body lotion, but no stretch marks!
My husband bought me a bangle from argento with a comment on it. They have lots and they are not pricey but I was really pleased with it as we had given up hope of getting pregnant so mine says 'Everyday....holds the possibility of a miracle.' Now just waiting for our little miracle to arrive as they are 3days late! Smile
Good luck with your search.

You mentioned belly rub. Depending on your budget I massively recommend the mamma mio range (higher end budget) or the champneys range (much cheaper but still v indulgent). I especially love the 'lucky legs' foot and leg gel by mamma mio. Perfect in the heat!
