17.1 midwife predicts girl from heart rate

Is this true? Baby's heart rate was 150-160...she said she thought it was a girl based on this and she is usually 70 per cent accurate!! Thoughts, please.

Mine was 180 at the 20 week scan, and it's a boy. So No. My consultant said it's only relevant in the last month, not in the first 36 weeks!

My midwife predicted a boy right through my pregnancy on basis it sounded like a steam train - fast forward to delivery room when I remember thinking that heart beat sounded like galloping horses - and out popped dd!

I've heard the same as Chica that it's close to birth the change becomes apparent, before then there is so much space for overlap it's unreliable.

I asked my midwife about the heart rate theory and she said it was complete rubbish.

My midwife predicted a boy from the heart rate both times - i have 2 dds!

Hmm Utter rubbish.. Why would a professional MW peddle such utter rubbish? Unbelievable. Sorry Op your MW is been ridiculous!

it's a myth.
a gypsy predicted dc's gender and was right. but the chance was about 50/50
