good luck! they will want you to get 'signed off' by your midwife. There is also quite a bit of info on their website about following the plan during pregnancy and breastfeeding....

I need my cards in pregnancy, especially with small DC's to run around after. Rather than do low carbs I do a sort of low GI/GL diet a bit like the second phase of the south beach diet (the 1st phase of south beach is no carbs which I find impossible with DC's).

It's all about eating carbs that give you maximum energy and keep you full for longer so that you don't crave sugary food hits. I've also reduced my refined sugar intake, I did that before I got pg to be fair and I've just carried on with it.

I eat stuff like about brown rice, food doctor pita breads and bagels (not masses, just sensible portions), Dr Kargs crackers and oat cakes for snacks, also nuts. Protein is low fat: skinless chicken, salmon/fish, turkey.

I'm not 'on a diet' by any means and I definitely don't go hungry. If it need a pick me up I might have peanut butter on oat cakes.

If you can low carb in pregnancy you are a better person than me- carbs are pretty much all I want to eat!

I believe SW is the only diet recommended during pregnancy.

Certainly it is important to eat carbs (it's actually important all the time, but particularly during pregnancy) so your MW might not be keen on low carb.

Hi ginger - I'd recommend SW with a bit of flexibility depending on what your pregnancy is like. It's pretty easy to follow, lets you eat TONS of food and generally points you in the direction of healthy eating - you can eat as much fruit and veg as you like for example. I found it brilliant to lose weight pre pregnancy and am now following the principles.

Don't want to lose weight, just want to have more of a handle on weight gain this time around.
Put on way too much with dd and since I've stopped being sick with this one it's piling on again.
Was at the top end of normal weight range when got pregnant. Just don't want to have stones and stones to shift after and feeling pretty crappy about the way I look.
Have heard good things about slimming world in pregnancy but am I kidding myself? Should I just get more self control and try low carbing?
Any advice appreciated. Like I say, not wanting to lose weight just control how much I do put on.
