Overdue and fed up!

Hi all, this is my 3rd baby (and last) and hes refusing to budge.. I'm 40 + 4 and tried every old wives tale going to try and start labour but nothing has worked.. Ive also had 2 sweeps from the midwife with no joy! I'm really fed up now not to mention tired!
I was 5 days late with my 2nd child and know this one will make an appearance in his own time but desperate to avoid being induced.
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced an awkward 3rd baby? Because all the midwives have said 3rd babies are commonly different!

I'm 4 days over due with my first. I've tried everything- pineapple, hot curry, long walks and dtd. nothing! I'm fed up :( booked in for a sweep on Thursday so I'm hoping that might help if not ill be looking at induction :(

The only thing i haven't tried is castor oil.. Not sure if i'm brave enough for that. Its nice to know i'm not the only one going through it.
Everyone that has been due around the same time as me that i know have all had their babies which depresses me even more :(

I know@!!! I feel left out :( I haven't tried castor oil either- I'm a little scared of it. I mean the hot curry gave me a bad tummy I bet the oil would do worse.
I don't know if I should be walking lots more or just being lazy and staying in bed all day ;)
you're not alone hun!

Same here! its my first and im 40+1.... not helped by the fact that everyone thought I was going to be early so never expected to still be pregnant! have tried everything - except castor oil too.... doubt I will! hoping the midwife will agree to doing a sweep tomorrow.

I don't think anything will work unless your baby is ready. My boy is 9 days old now and I was overdue by 11 days. Went into labour the night before was booked in to be induced. I had a sweep but nothing happened no pains ect, went for two really long walks the next day and a few hours later went into labour. I'm convinced it was the walking that helped, everything can change very quickly s

.......don't give up hope :) walk walk walk it definitely helps but as said before it won't help until baby is ready. Good luck x

Arrrrrrggggghhhhhh can I join?

39+6 with dc3. My previous 2 dc had been born by now!! Had 2 false alarms that resulted in calling the midwives out... I'm so bloody embarrassed! I didn't have anything like that in my first two labours! The second one (saturday night) I was having really strong contractions every 2 mins, the midwife laughed when I said could it be another false alarm! Then it just stopped....

I just feel like crying tbh :(

I'm 40 +4 and really fed up, had a sweep on Monday which doesn't seem to have worked. Have tried pineapple and curry. Long walks seem to be out of the question due to needing a wee all the time! Really bored and lonely. Am going to get a Lush 'sex bomb' bath bomb as it contains clary sage - reckon its worth a try.

40+4 today too and climbing the walls...
Seems LO doesn't understand me yelling "get out" at him either. Grrr.

Just had my first sweep. wasn't as bad as I first thought. Midwife said I was 1cm dilated and have a very favorable cervix. just got to get bouncing!

Hi all, don't know if you want to try or not but with DS1 I went to a breast feeding class at 36+6 and as I had gestational diabeties I was told to try and express some milk from then on and freeze it as he will need it when he is born due to his sugar levels. ANYWAY I was warned that expressing or using a pump could send me into early labour as my body would be tricked into thinking the baby was suckling and produce oxytocins, sure enough I expressed with a pump (or tried to) at 11pm and at 3am my waters broke! So get pumping ladies, you never know!

Am now 38 + 6 with DS2 and have an ELCS booked in for next Wednesday so I staying well away from my breasts! lol

Good luck all xx

Do you mind if I join in? 40+1 today and getting really fed up.
I can't even say I'm that uncomfortable compared to others, more just bored of the waiting.
I've eaten my weight in pineapples, walked, swam, eaten spicy food and forced DH into sex a couple of times.
Come on baby!!!!

I haven't got a sweep until Wednesday - do they hurt? Hope it kicks something off for you!

Report
smilesallround247 · 01/05/2014 18:55

It didn't hurt just uncomfortable. think rough fingering! sorry buts that's the only way I can describe it! It feels a little like when your partner goes a bit too deep and hits your cervix like that sort of uncomfortable.
I bled a little after but only a tiny amount.
I found what helped was asking the midwife to tell me what she was doing and what she could feel it made it less of a shock when she did the sweep as I was prepared for it if that makes sense. x
